Texas Trip report

“A Trip to Texas”

It was a cold wet morning here in New Orleans, the date is October 19,2006. I just received several emails from various investors and everyone was saying “the Pit was shut down”. I decided to take a drive west to see for myself. As I got to the pit, it was pretty muddy and there wasn’t much traffic. As I drove up to the weighing station I saw they were building an elaborate covered walk way, with stairs, from the visitors parking area to the weigh station building. The construction folks were beavering away. I walked up the hill, since the stairs were closed. I walked into the inspector’s office and spoke with him and asked him if his job function was changing. He told me things were status quo and that Paul’s son wasn’t on sight yet because he was at school, he is enrolled at one of the local colleges, and that he should be in shortly. He explained to me that traffic was slow this am because of the rain. I thanked him for sharing with me about the pit activity and I departed, as I was driving away Paul’s son came storming down the drive and waved as he passed me. As I got to the entrance a truck was pulling up. I flagged him down and we shared a few minutes of conversation. He told me he was a regular at the pit and had several more trips under his current contract. He commented about what a great bunch of folks the Madisonville crew were. I wished him a great soggy day and I pulled away. As I drove away I gave Mastercraft a call and shared with him the latest story. As I drove down the Interstate it occurred to me I was passing Madisonville on my way to LaPlace. I told Mastercraft I thought I would pop in on PA and the gang and see what was happening and to dispel my concerns. As I arrived it was raining and Ron B and Johnny Z and another guy were standing on the porch watching the rain clean the air.

As I ran up to the porch, trying to dodge the rain drops, I got invited in. I told Ron what an impressive rock waterfall in the front yard they had. He told me that they just installed it a couple months back and it was one of their latest products that was put on display at a local Home & Garden Show. He told me he was amazed how quickly they were selling and even commented that folks that were walking by were coming into the office and asking where they could get one for their home.

Ron invited me into his office and we chatted about the latest rumors about the pit. He reiterated to me what Paul had released earlier about the legal suit they were tangled up in but he assured me the company was doing very well and their latest acquisitions in Texas were going great guns. At that minute Dennis Kowalski popped his head in and said he had completed his plans for traveling over to Texas next week and was flying over on a Best Jet. At that point in time, I jumped into the conversation and asked could I tag along and see the operation. Ron said that just might be possible and I should give him a call in two days. Well we talked on Sunday and the trip was on. I called Dennis and coordinated with him and discussed the logistics of the trip the next day.

Weather cleared Sunday night and Monday morning was a sunny, clear but brisk morning - a perfect day for flying.

Three of us plus the pilot took off for Texas at 8:15 am. We fought a 115 knot head wind at 8000 ft and the trip took almost three hours. The last hour was a bit uncomfortable in that I had several cups of coffee while I waited in the lobby of the Top Gun Aviation terminal in Hammond, LA before we took off. At the time I wasn’t aware that the twin engine Cessna 350 we were about to depart on didn’t have a restroom. Well when we landed I made a beeline for the Best Jet passenger restroom and after a “few minutes” I was fine and I now could walk around the three hanger facility of Best Jet. I was escorted around the facility by Dale the CFO of Best Jets. Dale was very forthright and answered all my questions. I met about a dozen new employees and I was told they were going to hire another couple dozen folks to assist in their Jet Engine Rebuild facility which was on the other side of the airport about 1/4 of a mile away/.

Pictures 16 & 18 are pictures of newly retrofitted Lears that Best Jets owns. Pictures 19 thru 32 are of the Maintenance Hanger of Best Jets and of the planes that are being either retrofitted or are undergoing a planned overhaul. Pictures 33 thru 39 are an attempt by me to capture what a retrofit Lear looks like. Best Jet apparently has the ability to strip a whole Lear down and rebuild and remodel it. They have a very elaborate Cabinet and Fab shop which is shown in pictures 56 thru 72. Pictures 74 & 75 are of the main hanger. Picture 78 is the employee lunch room for the pilots and maintenance crew. Pictures 79 thru 81 are of some new employees. Picture 83 shows what they have done in a recent remodel. Picture 87 is of their main hanger an one of the three employee parking lots. Pictures 93 thru 104 are of the Jet Rebuild facility. Inside this facility I saw the 130 jet engines Best Jets has on consignment from GE. This was a very impressive facility but isn’t quite complete. A new jet engine test facility has just been ordered, arriving in 60 days, made possible by the Phoenix acquisition. A new balance machine for compressor balancing has also just been ordered - another piece of the puzzle that needs to be put into so the test facility before it is fully operational. I was told they expect to hire another 20 or so mechanics for this facility – moving on. Pictures 105 thru 113 are of various planes being rebuilt/remodeled. Pictures 114 & 115 I took as a highlight – this is Karl Malone’s Jet plane he shares ownership in. I saw this at the airport over in Kilgore, Texas that we flew too on Tuesday. In Kilgore this is where the three oil service companies PBLS bought are located. We first visited the office as shown in pictures 117 thru 119. Pictures 120 thru 143 are of a working natural gas drilling site we visited. This site was employing Sam’s Directional Drilling Equipment and had contracted for area Maintenance services. I spoke with the head rigger and he had nothing but praise for the talent of Sam’s employees. He even acknowledged how critical their service was in making this site become a successful hole. They were sitting at 7400 feet and they were planning to go to 10,250 feet. Pictures 144 thru 147 were of a sunset as we flew back into the Hammond, LA Municipal Airport Tuesday evening.

Overall it was a very enjoyable trip and I sensed both purchases were because Ron has great timing. I sensed neither company was on the block nor were they struggling. They both needed a company like Phoenix to come along and invest in their operation so they could move to the next level. Both companies are actively pursuing employees and as Sam told me to be successful in the Oil Biz one must employ top hands with great reputations and he just happens to employ some folks who are the very best talents in the area and are well known by the Texas Oil community and he is looking for more folks but they only come with a high price tag.

A very bright side bar to the trip was visiting one of the best rib houses and barbeque restaurants in the country (Country Tavern of Kilgore) which by the way is frequently visited by George W and multiple Hollywood stars like Larry Hagerman of “Dallas” fame. The ribs were out-of-sight; I even took a side home for the wife who was delightfully pleased that I remembered her.

Thanks again Ron for a very memorable and interesting experience. I just bought more shares! I also learned on my trip, while talking with Dennis, that a Form 10 can only be filed 120 days after year end closing. If you miss the window, one has to wait till next year. I now understand why a filing hasn’t come this year.

Phoenix Updates on Murphy Sand & Gravel Production Expansion
Tuesday October 31, 7:04 am ET

Mining Capacity Being Expanded; Equipment Being Delivered This Week

MADISONVILLE, LA--(MARKET WIRE)--Oct 31, 2006 -- Phoenix Associates Land Syndicate (Other OTC:PBLS.PK - News), a holding company with assets and/or interests in aviation, sand & gravel, soil products, land development, oil and natural gas, commodity brokering, trucking, contract hauling, construction, swimming pool construction and construction related industries, today updated shareholders on the expansion project at its Murphy Sand & Gravel (MS&G) business unit.

Phoenix indicated that the project announced about eight weeks ago to greatly increase production at its MS&G mining site is well underway with the following equipment to be delivered this week: a new screening plant with conveyers; two radial conveyers; an ALCO 10 X 8 fully equipped dredge; and a long reach excavator.

The Company said that it also expects delivery of a 12 x 10 dredge that was not on the original equipment list to be delivered within 2 weeks, and a new Caterpillar 966G Front End Loader shortly thereafter. Additional equipment that was announced earlier, including a Cutterhead 14 X 12 dredge, with 350% more capacity then the ALCO 10 X 8 dredge, is still expected to be delivered before the end of the year.

Paul Alonzo, President and CEO of Phoenix, stated, "As announced earlier, we are moving a vast amount of new mining equipment to the MS&G mine site so we can meet the growing demand in the Greater Gulf region for products that come out of our Pearl River, Louisiana mining operation."

Mr. Alonzo continued, "As production increases we are currently expecting total revenues from MS&G to exceed $10 million for 2007, and to increase over time, with full depletion of the mine to likely occur in six to eight years. We remain confident that our large investment in the MS&G operation will prove to be a strong contributor to consolidated revenues and earnings for many years."

I loooovvvve great fiction. Just didee bopped over and hitched a ride cuz their so open and ....transparent. heh heh. So concerned about their shareholders. heh heh. So pbls4ever gets the royal treatment,Lear Jet, bbcue,and...he's not EVEN an employee or ...insider.wow! And he had Masterbat...crafts phone number, right at the tip.......wow!! But the best part, the absolute bestus part was the story of how Paul pulled Tiny Tim out of the freezing waters of "The Pit". That...was a tear jerker 'snif' snif' God bless us...one and all. heh heh ok jk.

So, got to wait a whole year to file now? Sure about that? If true, then, why has Paul alluded.."as we now enter the quiet period"..that they are filing 'wink wink'.???? He's done that in two prs recently.
And,yeh, better get yer certs,if you even THINK yer a long. If you've had shares for a looong time, but dont have certs, get em!

Anyway,great story,great pics!! wwwoooooffff!!!
