I hate repeating myself, but I guess I will here... Just in case someone actually goes to the show, don't expect to see the Q booth right in front. If you look at the map, the main entrance with the registration booths is over to the right. The booth is actually in a corner.. yes, near a door, but not the entrance.

That doesn't affect anything.. just a technicality that should be addressed before everyone keeps spreading around some (minor) misinformation that the booth is front and center. However, it is in the front SECTION.. the Executive Suites. This alone should be enough to talk about without embellishing it.

IMHO--EVERY STOCK HAS A PULL BACK AND RETRACEMENT. AT THIS POINT I PERSONALLY WOULD WATCH FOR THAT.

ALSO--I LOVE QBID--I AM THE MOST POSITIVE PERSON YOU WILL EVER MEET (AND SOMEDAY WE ALL WILL IN VEGAS). I JUST WANT TO REMIND PEOPLE. TAKE YOUR CASH OUT OF THE EQUATION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. NOTHING WRONG WITH TAKING PROFITS ALONG THE WAY. WORK TOWARDS FREE SHARES. IMHO 1ST RULE OF PENNY'S. DON'T CHASE A STOCK. IMHO.

KEEP IT REAL.

I've only got 250k of this now (sold 250k to get my cash out, so I've got free shares)...I'm considering selling at .0052, because I personally think it will retrace to .004 or so....005 is a psychological barrier I think...

I hope I'm wrong, and it keeps climbing though...haven't decide if I should sell and buy more lower or not...since I'm already on free shares (albeit just a few), I might just hold out

if 0.005 was a psychological barrier, we sure got over it when we hit 0.0052. I DO expect a retrace, I just dont know when its coming!

thanks di.

yes, i'm playing with free shares right now. like cyberrat, i sold 250,000 of my 500,000 back in the .003's and now i'm wishing i had more than just 250,000 (although i'll still come to vegas to party with you guys!)

i'm figuring another $1000, or $1500 is still not bad. it'll get me a few hundred thousand more shares. i'll wait for the retrace from today though (if there is one).

any opinions?

thank! go qbid!

TOO MANY VERY STRONG HOLDERS WITH LARGE POSITIONS. HARD TO SHAKE THIS CROWD. I THINK PEOPLE ARE FINALLY SEEING THE POTENTIAL.

JUST HIT .0054--I THINK SOME KIND OF NEW IS COMING OUT. I CAN'T FIND AND I HAVE SEARCHED ALL DAY.

CERTAINLY DO NOT SEE SIGNED OF RETRACEMENT TODAY. SEE A STRONG FINISH AND A GAP UP IN A.M. IMHO

Advertisers May Find Gay Dollars Online
By Robyn Greenspan
Companies that properly target the gay and lesbian market are likely to get a positive response from this affluent, loyal, and highly Internet proficient group. According to the results of the 2002 Gay/Lesbian Consumer Online Census (GLCensus), an OpusComm Group and Syracuse University research partnership, nearly 32 percent of the male respondents and 17 percent of female respondents reported household incomes of $100,000 or more, making this a profitable demographic to pursue.

Comparatively, Nielsen//NetRatings estimated that the $100,000 to $150,000 household income represented roughly 12 percent of the U.S. Web population in late 2002.

Of the nearly 9,000 respondents to the GLCensus, conducted online during the summer of 2002, the overwhelming majority indicated that they are likely to notice and remember ads that feature gay themes — in other words, ads that were specifically designed to appeal to the gay community — and two-thirds reported that they were more likely to be persuaded by gay-themed ads.

Most importantly, from a marketing perspective, nearly two-thirds indicated that they would be more likely to purchase from companies that use gay-themed ads, and 82 percent would be more likely to buy from gay-friendly companies.

Jeffrey Garber, president of OpusComm Group Inc., and founder of the GLCensus Partner's study, explains that many advertisers assume that just inserting their existing mainstream ad in a gay publication will generate a good response and foster brand loyalty. However, Garber's research shows that if advertisers want to hit a home run they need to craft a specific message that is both compelling and sensitive.

"Gay consumers want advertisers to demonstrate that they care about their needs enough to create a separate message. Also, a separate gay-themed ad can run in targeted mainstream media outlets to reach a broader gay consumer who can't be reached presently by gay media alone," Garber commented.

Marketers that are interested in targeting this group should realize that gays and lesbians spend substantially more time online than the average Internet surfer. June 2003 tracking data from Nielsen//NetRatings reveals that the average global Internet user spent roughly 11 hours and 34 minutes online per month, while GLCensus found that the largest percentage of respondents spent more than 25 hours online per week. Moreover, the average monthly usage for a U.S. surfer in June 2003 was 25 hours and 25 minutes at home, and 74 hours and 26 minutes at work.

How Many Hours Do You
Spend Online Per Week?
25+ hours 28.5%
20-25 hours 10.35%
15-20 hours 14.0%%
10-15 hours 15.7%
5-10 hours 18.5%
1-5 hours 12.9%
Source: GLCensus

With all these hours spent online, it's no surprise that Forrester Research, Inc. identified gay consumers as being among the earliest technology adopters in a July 2003 report.

"Gay men and women are tech-savvy consumers who use the Internet and tech devices at significantly higher rates than their heterosexual counterparts for shopping, banking, entertainment, and community building," said Jed Kolko, principal analyst at Forrester. "Marketers need to take a close look at the consumer behavior of gay men and women to determine a strategy in targeting a group of consumers who have been consistently overlooked."

Forrester found that 80 percent of gay men and 76 percent of lesbians are online, compared with 70 percent of straight men and 69 percent of straight women. Gays are also one-third more likely to have broadband connections and have been online longer than heterosexuals. Also, 29 percent of gay men and women have been online for more than 7 years, versus 18 percent of heterosexuals.

Although any group of higher-income, more highly educated consumers will be earlier adopters of technology, significant differences in gays' technology behavior emerged after Forrester made statistical adjustments for online tenure and demographic differences.

Technological Differences Between
Gays and Straights
Device Gay Straight
DVD player 54% 46%
Surround-sound stereo 37% 30%
Camcorder video 31% 40%
Digital camera 30% 23%
Handheld video game 20% 27%
Web-enabled mobile phone 15% 9%
PDA 15% 9%
Portable MP3 player 8% 4%

Advertisers seen welcoming gay-oriented TV network

By Bill Berkrot

NEW YORK (Reuters) - "Ellen" who?

Just four years after shunning the first prime-time TV show starring an openly gay character, some of the nation's top advertisers could soon be lining up to sponsor an entire network aimed at gays and lesbians, who are increasingly seen as a lucrative niche market, according to industry analysts.

MTV Networks and Showtime, both units of media giant Viacom Inc, have been developing the gay- and lesbian-oriented network since last summer, though programming details are still in the works and no timetable has been set for the channel's debut.

News of the project led some analysts to predict that such a channel will be welcomed by advertisers looking for new niche markets to tap.

"Everyone who wants a new market will jump on the bandwagon," predicted Jeff Garber, president of OpusComm Group Inc., an advertising and public relations firm that targets the gay and lesbian audience for mainstream advertisers.

Demographers said the channel will have an audience with deeper pockets than the average American.

In a 2000 study, Kalorama Information market research firm estimated a total gay and lesbian purchasing power in the United States of $340 billion in 1999.

A recent consumer online survey found the median combined household income of gay couples to be $65,000, nearly 60 percent higher than the 1999 U.S. median income of $40,800.

In the survey conducted last summer by OpusComm and GSociety Inc., in conjunction with the S.I. Newhouse School at Syracuse University, more than 20 percent of the 6,351 respondents reported a total combined income of $100,000 or more -- figures likely to have advertisers scrambling for a share of the gay dollar, analysts said.

Garber said he expects to see clear changes in the way the gay population is courted, "as the gay and lesbian economic power base becomes more widely recognized."

In 1997, major advertisers such as Domino's Pizza, Burger King Corp. and Johnson & Johnson, temporarily withdrew their sponsorship of ABC's "Ellen" when, in a groundbreaking episode, the main character played by openly gay actress Ellen DeGeneres revealed she was a lesbian.

Since then, however, gay and lesbian characters have cropped up on numerous shows on both broadcast and cable networks, with little or no backlash from major sponsors.

"Over the last 10 years we've seen a dramatic increase in the desire of advertisers to market to this audience," said Howard Buford, founder and CEO of Prime Access Inc., an advertising and marketing company specializing in gay and lesbian and other defined audiences.

"They're finding out that there is a large amount of disposable income out there."

SAME-SEX SELLS

When the new network debuts, it will join Toronto-based PrideVision TV, the world's first 24-hour gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender television network, which was launched last Sept. 7.

Jason Hughes, director of sales for PrideVision TV, said most sponsors the network approaches are receptive.

Diet Pepsi, Microsoft, Warner Music, Polar Ice Vodka and Rogers AT&T Canada are already running their existing advertising on the groundbreaking station.

But Hughes said a company that makes herbal products and a clothing company were in process of producing commercials designed specifically for the gay audience, a trend he expects to increase. He declined to name the companies.

"When they see two men holding hands or two women kissing in a commercial, the community is going to respond to that," Hughes said. "The community knows who supports them."

Cathy Renna, news media director for the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) said the gay community is well informed about companies deemed friendly to gays.

"We support corporations that support the community," Renna said, citing American Airlines as a prime example of a company that has helped the gay community.

"It's the right thing to do, and it's a really smart business decision."

Qtopia Media Comes Out of the Closet
New marketing consulting firm serves growing list of advertisers targeting gay & lesbian market
Qtopia Media - a marketing firm specializing in the gay & lesbian community - has opened its doors in response to unprecedented advertiser interest in targeting the gay marketplace. Qtopia Media specializes in local market communications programs, focusing primarily on metro areas with high concentrations of gay and lesbian consumers. The company comes out of the box running, locked into marketing alliances with the top vendors in each local market medium, including: Interep (Radio), MacDonald Media (Out-of-Home), The Event Shop (Event Marketing) and Gotham Communications (Public Relations).

David Morganlander, President of Qtopia Media, commented, "The creation of Qtopia Media springs from the marriage of need and capability. In the past year, we have increasingly heard from national advertisers looking for both the venues and the knowledge to effectively reach the gay marketplace. The demand for gay & lesbian marketing strategies has escalated dramatically in the past year, yet the resources available to advertisers remains limited. Enter Qtopia Media."

He continued, "Our team, together with our marketing partners, combines extensive experience in executing national marketing programs on the local level, with the specialized knowledge necessary to effectively speak to gay and lesbian consumers."

Since the gay population tends to be more geographically concentrated than the general population, particularly in large metropolitan hubs, the spot marketing approach is often a more efficient way for advertisers to target the market. In partnership with Interep, Qtopia offers the first Gay Consumer Lifestyle Radio Networks, including the "Dance Party Radio Network," a line-up of dance/CHR stations in top gay metros across country. In addition, in-market promotions and events give advertisers the opportunity to interact with the local gay community, allowing for product sampling, displays and networking opportunities.

Major advertisers such as IBM B-2-B, Orbitz, American Express, Wyndam International, Tylenol, Ford and DaimlerChrysler have recently announced plans to allocate ad budgets directed at gay consumers. While it is impossible to pinpoint a sole reason behind the growing interest in gay consumers from the ad community; however, increasing visibility of gay issues in mainstream media is probably a contributing factor. Gay-themed television shows such as "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," "Queer as Folk" and "The L Word" have permeated the airwaves in recent seasons, attracting top ratings and top advertisers. In addition, issues of gay marriage, adoption, and domestic partnership benefits consistently make headlines.

Facts on the Gay & Lesbian Market: - Gay & lesbians represent 6%-8% of the population, or roughly 15 million U.S. adults - The G&L marketplace is estimated at $485 billion (MarketResearch.com) - Metropolitan areas with the largest gay & lesbian populations include: New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, Dallas, South Florida, Boston, Atlanta, Denver and Phoenix. - Gay consumers are "influencers," who tend to set trends in culture, music, fashion and politics. - Most research confirms that gay & lesbian consumers have a greater tendency to purchase products and services from advertisers who make a specific effort to speak to the G&L community.
