Yeahhhhhhhh I finally got it!!!! I never noticed the quote marks on a post before and I've been reading in here for three or 4 years. TY for the lesson. That was one of the quotes I liked. I know I got the greed licked and the fear, But There will always be some hope involved in anything I do, stocks, marriage, kids business ventures etc.etc. And as far as ignorance I still have that. Your only as knowledgeable as how far you take your education in a subject. I haven't learned all there is about stocks and trading. Basically I tried to educate myself on several sets of indicators and what they mean. So as far as the whole market goes I'm still quite ignorant. Loved the quote it says alot.

OK Big I know your going to read this. I'm still in, it's not greed, not stupidity, I don't even care at this point if I make it. I'm in because of the simple fact that it's starting to amuse me. Resistance around the 80 cent range it keeps pushing up there then the market brings it back down. I'm overwhelminly confident I won't lose on this stock so I have become a investor for the short term. The cash is safe in it in my opinion and sooner or later it's gonna break that 15 dollar ceiling. A good stock to jump in and out of daily that I noticed.

Didn't your mother ever tell you not to play with your food?

LOL

If this makes you happy then so be it. I don't understand how this helps you in attaining your goal of self sufficiency but as long as the plan makes sense to you then go for it.

I was thinking I might use this thread a few times in the coming weeks to show you what I look for in a play. Would you mind if I posted a few of my picks here? I generally dip into the market once a week.

No I don't mind at all, Anyone can post here and I would enjoy seeing your pics. Are you going to break it down and explain what you liked in your pic as to why you bought it? That I would like to see. As far as fun on Comcast, honestly it has given me quite a few laughs, it's past being about my goal, it's pretty stable in it's trading range the past few weeks, no emotions in this one, no hopes of where it's going to go just stubborness to stay in for that break in resistance. Once that ceiling breaks I'll get what I can and move on. I did pick up some SIRI at.38 a week or so ago for long term, I sold my NENE which I was in from .18 and out at .60 something, used that for my purchase. That's in a different account of just holds. When RYQG gets back to .05 I'll grab some of that and wait it out for it's next run which could take a few months but it will be a definite runner just crappy volume. Right now life's plan is all about the I-phone that's my future income source. So post away Big I look forward to seeing you make some cash and why your making it. Barring any big drops across the board and some positive news on the economy I should hit that $15.14 short term.

jg, I just read this thread and love it. I learned a lot also! I am new and just starting to play with day trading. Could anyone tell me how to trade after hours? Also, I use Zecco - is there a better day trading site? I found a couple stocks that move 10-20% up and down a few times a day and would like to trade them obviously as quick as possible to take advantage of the lows and highs.

Oldseven, first I have to ask if you are aware of the rules regarding day trading? Don't mean to question your intelligence but we have had more than one or two traders get into big trouble with Uncle Sam because they launched into trading before paying attention to requirements.

Read this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pattern_day_trader

And can you define for me T+3, daytrading, margin account, and round trips?

That's right...you are trying to create an I-phone app aren't you jg? I can understand why that is taking a chunk of your time. I am also happy to hear you have other funds that you are playing with beyond what is sitting in Cable Television. [Smile]

I will post a couple watchlists and picks using a small amount of cash. Might take me a week or so before I get to this.

Famous words a guy I know named Bigfoot said once............ don't rush your strategy.... or something to that affect. I have some apps out already that were just taken off my field guides and didn't cost me a cent to make. They actually suck on there, two of them anyway but they are bringing in some cash. I'm doing them much more detailed now and it's costing time and money but I should have one new one out in a few weeks that will be 9.99 hopefully. I'll get 33% of whatever the retail price is. I should have tow more done by the end of the month with four or five more by the end of the year. There is a big future in that and right now it's pretty much ground floor believe it or not.

Big, YOU are correct! I have no idea what I am doing. My only background is the little I have been reading on the internet. From what I have read and notes I have taken, I thought I was doing everything correctly. I DO NOT want to be doing anything to get in trouble.

Day Trading - Buying and selling in the same day. I would like to do this for some, buy also hold some for a few days or weeks.

Pattern Day Trader - Buying & selling a particular security in the same trading day at least four times in a five-day period and are at least 6% of the person’s trading during them same five days. I would like them to be at least 6%.

Margin Account - Using a brokers funds to buy and sell securities. My funds are backed by cash deposits before the purchases are made.

T +3 - I must settle up my transactions with my brokerage within 3 business days. I have a cash deposit account that I assume pays for these transactions immediately.

Round Trip Trading - Isn’t this what Enron Did?
Buying the same stock 3 times in one day, then selling in the same day(3 different times). This can only be done 3 times unless you have $25,000 in your account.

I did go to your link and It seems I understand these definitions correctly- but maybe I do not.

Old7 Trading after hours is no biggie unless I'm missing something. Ameritrade has the buy/sell box, and in that is extended hours trading AM/PM. Personally more times than not have I had good luck with AM buys. In my experience it opens lower and from what I have watched on the few I have, they tend to turn back up around 10am, but that's just my observation on the 15 or 20 I have watched in the past couple years on extended hours. I used to think wow I'm going to miss the run and get in in pre AM only to watch it tank and then gain ground later in the morning. Hope that helps.

She has her retirement 401k in one, another she just plays with but not much, I have my own 401 that I trade here with and the other ones are just for gambles and long term holds. I had more than one with the intention of while one was settling the other I could still trade with. I was doing the whole balance on one stock. If your not going to do that then you don't need more than one. I'm sure alot of people will tell you not to put all your money in one stock which you shouldn't so don't do that. I'm sure you read before to somewhere that if your not prepared to lose everything then don't invest. That's good advice follow that. All that said good luck, I hope you do well. One last thing, don't buy anything based on what someone else says it's going to do. If all the stocks I had bought years ago went to the moon like the people pumping it were saying then I'd be in Alaska fishing right now.

THANKS - Yeh, I do lots of reading. I will have a few accounts for similar reasons. I am just playing and having lots of fun and learning TONS!. I am a numbers person so I am using percentages as my main buy/sell technique. Them charts - WOW need to read alot more before I understand all that stuff. I made enough to buy a faster computer with a larger monitor. STEP 1 complete. Next step is a new car. This one might take a couple years but I hope not. I use this forum to get a heads up on stocks. One person can not possible research everything. I do indepth research once I see something posted here I think I like.
Step 3 - My wife wants to take a two weeks cruise in Alaska; hope I don't lose everything before that.

Some history regarding after hours. Hopefully it will be enough for you to start your research oldseven.

http://invest-faq.com/cbc/trade-after-hours.html

The main thing to remember is that you can purchase stocks with unsettled funds but if you try to sell that stock before the funds settle you will have to cover the difference with new cash or get fined. It sounds like you have this handled with your cash reserves but it is easy to lose track of this if you are not paying attention and are overtrading.

Good Luck to you.

BF

Thanks Big, I make all stock purchases with cash only. I do not use any unsettled funds - at this time anyway. Maybe as I do more research and find other stocks to buy, I will need to start doing this because I will be cashed out. Enjoy the weekend.

Hey guys, who do you recommend for REAL-TIME Quotes? Seems the 15-20 minute delay stuff is putting me behind on the buys and sells.
Thanks

I use scotty for the real-time streamer. Never looked at other streamers as I am comfortable with what I have. Yes...delayed quotes are very difficult for the active trader to work with.

jg...I have decided to take a sizable position on an earnings play and will need to delay my pick posting for another month or so until the Quarterly is released. Good luck to you in the meantime.

LMAO...Next week CNO will have an easy opportunity for 10-30%. Also, watch for the earnings release on AHR sometime around the 12th of August. If they meet or beat estimates, it's good for 100%+...Way oversold right now.

I have never been fined. I used Margin and do trade anytime during Pre-market to AH. So will have to double check but no fines here.

CNO...very interesting pick. Interesting because of current price, 52 week high, pre-earnings release...never seen that before but ok.

Good find.

RRRRRRR....... I love the woman but she killed me today. Somehow she got it in her head I said to buy ABK after 10 am. That was a costly miscommunication. She bought in at $1.17 and put a trailing stop in at $1.22. She should have been in at the open and it could have been a 2k gain for the day. Still up so I'm happy but 2k would have been great.
