Has Republican Become the Party of Ignorance?
Aug 12, 2008 in John McCain

Just a simple question really, but a serious one. A simple review of the major candidates websites reveals some very hard truths about the level of political acuity or intelligence of the two campaigns.

For example where Obama talks at length about rural community rebuilding, energy infrastructure, school equality, access to health care, and having a working relationship with rural Congressional leaders to improve the lives of rural taxpayers. McCain on the same rural community platform only regurgitates the party bullet points on anti gay legislation and gun rights.

Could it be that the republicans just take the rural voters in America for fools? Or is it true that these voters will not see the republican party, over and over again manipulating them, into actually voting for a candidate that wont work for them, wont improve schools, wont improve the energy grid, and will forget them again, just like Bush 1 and Bush 2. Has republican hate radio so bewildered these voters that they truly don’t believe their own tax dollars should bring real benefit to their local communities?

The McCain platform seems to indicate the later point, though McCain the candidate has shifted to the center on most of these topics in his speeches. The media will tell you that McCain not only has a sizable lead among these rural voter, but that Obama has a hard road to reaching rural communities in America.

So I ask you with all sincerity. Has Republican become the party of ignorance?

What you don't seem to understand is that conservatives (not necessarily Republicans) have completely different agendas than Obama's whiney left. For example, rural communities (at least here in the midwest) aren't broken and don't need rebuilding. While Obama, as a community organizer, may not understand that - we do!

Conservatives are all for an energy infastructure policy, but we're just about 1,000 times smarter than Obama. We KNOW that drilling is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY in the short and mid term as a bridge to energy independence. In addition, we KNOW that nuclear, wind (yes, even in Ted Kennedy's sailing area), compressed natural gas, and clean coal are necessary in the mid term. All this is directly opposed to Obama's idiotic policy that is anti-nuclear, anti-drilling, anti-clean coal, etc.

Conservatives are for better schools - NOT SCHOOL EQUALITY (which is just lefty mumbo-jumbo for supporting the teacher's union). You'll note that this leftist policy of supporting the status quo is exactly what has led to our mediocre education system, with increasing money going to schools and very poor results. What we need is competition in schools!!!

Conservatives do NOT believe in socialized medicine!!! We believe that people should WORK and then decide how to spend THEIR money. It's fine with me if they choose not to spend money on health insurance, but then don't expect me to cover their health care expenses.

Conservatives believe in gun rights!!! There is no "anti-gay legislation" - that's just silly. Conservatives are certainly for gays having EXACTLY the same rights as everyone else, but certainly no special rights.

Obama not only has a sizable lead among black voters, but McCain has a hard road to reaching them. I wonder why black voters would support Obama and the left, when the left has virtually enslaved them to poverty through it's policy of handouts? Has the drive-by media so bewildered these voters that they will vote to enslave themselves with the handouts of the left?

Hmmmmm?

No, every one of my responses come from common sense, something which the left in this country clearly lacks!

PMS states.."What you don't seem to understand is that conservatives (not necessarily Republicans) have completely different agendas than Obama's whiney left. For example, rural communities (at least here in the midwest) aren't broken and don't need rebuilding. While Obama, as a community organizer, may not understand that - we do!"

Thats pure hogwash!!

The rural communities are dieing here in the midwest..I wonder if pms ever goes outside his bigoted cocoon?...if he would, he would see many more ghost towns and struggling communities than 10 yrs ago..and I'm not talking about towns that are 5 miles outside of the city that become the burbs,, i'm talking about rural communities,,you know, those beautiful small farm towns with a thriving economy and healthy family?..GONE! Its simply insane to believe this twisted litany of PMS. its so obvious that he has NO CLUE of his fellow man. I travel many weeks at gigs throughout the midwest and the gigs are becoming fewer and fewer...BECAUSE THESE TOWNS ARE NOW DEAD! They cannot afford to put on music shows,or festivals. PMS IS NOT THE SPOKESPERSON FOR THE MIDWEST!!..and i wish he would stop trying to be. Its embarassing.

we have a great crop of poor people down here in MS and it sure as heck isn't because the "left" has "enslaved" them...

heck i'm not even sure we have any "layefties" here at all...

Common sense?

I fear the gentleman confuses common sense and systemic hate. When you live constantly with a life long itch I guess it is only natural to imagine that everyone else itches in common with you and it is the way it should be.

Pm's views are the exact opposite of common sense..

they represent an idealised view of a Darwinian economic system...

just as communism is an idealistic system...

neither will work.

Feudalism is the end result of darwinian economic systems... take feudalism to the globalised conclusion and you end up with one corporation running the world.. it may take a few decades, but that's the ultimate conclusion..
