Can't you just imagine what McCain and his sort of anti-scientific anti progress bozos will say about having spent the research funds for this?
He can make asinine simple minded jokes about learning if your rose bush has a fever. It would maybe match his dim witted belief and claim that the purpose of studying DNA of bears was to have evidence for trying bears for child abuse.
(Come on, PM, you are of that school of keeping everyone in your own class of supreme ignorance. Tell us how this is a socialistic waste of funds by those bleeding heart wacko lefties? SF, don't you want to jump on this too?)

McCain is part of the old gaurd that is resistant to change or progressive thinking...it makes sense that he would make fun of this...its his ( and pms, sf, locktight, etc) M.O.
It surely doesn't make sense. Indeed, it is dumb and backward. (Makes sense to the ignorant, maybe.)
It is an inevitable results of their rigidity and refusal to bother to learn to understand anything that can't be completely explained in newspaper headline speak.
These are 18th century minds still excited about burning coal to generate the steam to propel a side-wheeler across the Atlantic and half believing it will prove to be uncompetitive with sail.
Ir's a faulty limited mindset that makes no sense at all.

Like I say, I have met McCain and seen it on a different level. I could and would excuse his blunders and confusions , particularly realizing what he was put through in Viet Nam, in a private citizen. But we are considering putting into the most powerful and influential position on Earth those falterings and failures and misjudgments.
