Much of US favors Bush impeachment: poll

Fri Jul 6, 6:59 PM ET

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Nearly half of the US public wants President George W. Bush to face impeachment, and even more favor that fate for Vice President Dick Cheney, according to a poll out Friday.

The survey by the American Research Group found that 45 percent support the US House of Representatives beginning impeachment proceedings against Bush, with 46 percent opposed, and a 54-40 split in favor when it comes to Cheney.

The study by the private New Hampshire-based ARG canvassed 1,100 Americans by telephone July 3-5 and had an error margin of plus or minus three percentage points. The findings are available on ARG's Internet site.

The White House declined to comment on the poll, the latest bad news for a president who has seen his public opinion standings dragged to record lows by the unpopular war in Iraq.

the charges are listed here:

http://impeachforpeace.org/evidence/

most of it is pretty self-evident, when you take into account that signing an International Treaty makes it Law... that's how they criminalised dope.

it appears the grounds are there, but Pelosi is being quiet...

IMO? they are waiting till next year...

I don't know of anyone on the hill that has the reputation and the self sacrificing balls necessary to put a legitimate process together. Fewer still who would have the balls to support it. They'll wait and watch how the campaigns are running for 2008.

If it were to happen I'd almost guess it would come from the republican party as a desperate attempt to regain favor rather than the democrats that can use the discontent to strengthen their position.

That is interesting 45% want the shurb impeached I believe it people are very upset with this libby thing just proves the double standard in this country.

My point is I don't think we have seen anything yet the pots a brewing boys and Bush don't have to worry about another election so I think the gloves are going to come off and you won't believe your eye's.

The right is always saying clinton did this and he granted pardon to 140 people.

But never to a traitor like libby I know he he was convicted for lying under oath but we all know that he lying to protected his supiors in outing an cia agent in the field during the time of war according to Bush if you listen to him.

That is an act of treason no matter what party you belong to I cannot believe that there are Americans that make it known that they consider what Libby did was good and the right thing to do.

No, Bond, Clinton was never convicted of anything other than maybe some traffic offense or something similar somwhere. You have been taken in by RNC propaganda.

Yes, Libby was acting in conspiracy of treason.

I don't think the public would accept the absolute shame to the Nation of another impeachment trial.

However, if being tarred and feathered and ridden out of town at midnight on a rail wasn't illegal, and advance notice of the event were given in time, the Streets of Washington, D.C. would be lined by millions of cheering citizens on that January night and many more millions would allow their kids to stay up late to see, on CNN and NBC and ABC and PBS and CBS and MSNBC (Fox will refuse to telecast it, instead holding a debate on Social Security, chaired by Sean Hannity, with Ann the Adam's Apple Coulter speaking for pro- Social Security and Rush the Doper Limbuagh the con-, in order to be fair and balenced), just what should become of those that would seek to undermine the Constitution of the United States of America and turn this Nation ino a fascist one party state to which, by law, each of "the people" would be required to swear his or her first and strongest allegiance.

I don't think impeachment would ever happen but I'm for it if it does.

I am for it if it is a duel impeachment, Chaney and Bush both, at the same time.

Otherwise it is like only spraying one roach infested apartment of a roach infested multi-story apartment building with roach poison. It accomplishes nothing lasting and possibly contributes to developing immunity of the infesting vermin.

Well, I hope not, retiredat49, but the times, they are a changin....

Who knows what what the next sh-t pile uncovered will be?

I'm betting before long we will be learning that Fitzgerald was under intense pressure to avoid inditing Chaney and dubya. They took his name off the list to be fired for some reason.

It's really sick that that fascist egomaniac wasn't house broke before he got in the White house and stained the Nation's carpets.

I agree with that.

I should, but wiser heads will see that that would only damage the Nation.

It should happen.

The Democrats are focused on the 08 election, fully aware that the republicans, with each day of supporting the "Supreme Liar of All Liars" known by his self proclaimed title, "The Decider", decreases what chance they have left of being viewed as other than incompetent and corrupt.

lessee? Clinton was impeached for uh lying under oath...

Bush won't allow anybody to testify under oath? LOL..
yep, they are covering up something big.. the question is what are they really covering up?

i listened to the Iraq ambassador today say the situation there is nogood for anybody..

i totally disagree with him, this Iraq MESS has been great for a few people... starting with the big oil co's...

they are enjoying the greatest profits ever seen and it is directly because of Iraq..

here's why:

Iraq still produces less oil now than it did under Saddam..
there is less supply for more demand...

According to the US Defense Energy Support Center Fact Book 2004, in Fiscal Year 2004, the US military fuel consumption increased to 144 million barrels. This is about 40 million barrels more than the average peacetime military usage.

By the way, 144 million barrels makes 395 000 barrels per day, almost as much as daily energy consumption of Greece.

The US military is the biggest purchaser of oil in the world.

In 1999 Almanac edition of the Defense Logistic Agency’s news magazine Dimensions it was stated that the DESC “purchases more light refined petroleum product than any other single organization or country in the world. With a $3.5 billion annual budget, DESC procures nearly 100 million barrels of petroleum products each year. That’s enough fuel for 1,000 cars to drive around the world 4,620 times.”

That budget increased a lot over the years. The US DoD spent $8.2 billion on energy in fiscal year 2004.

 -

Department of Defense estimates that each $10 per barrel increase in oil prices costs the U.S. military an additional $1.3 billion dollars.

IMO? the big oil co's slammed the door on Bush/Cheney's plans early on... i believe Cheney thought that HAL would become the major oil profiteer off of Iraq...

IMO? the REAL CRIMES are right here, but nobody is willing to turn over this particular rock
