Gordon-
I wonder how many people would want to return to any war. And who could blame them if the answer were zero?
You know even serving in the best of wars don't compare to being home with your family.

there are alot of very good people working in the middle levels of the govt.

the problem right now is that they are suffering miserably from poor leadership and quite frankly? a fear of their bosses....

the Plame issue sent shock waves thru the civil service people... serious shock waves...

Has anyone here considered that there is a strong possibility that the shrubery is acting on a secret presidential order and reading the email of every soldier in Iraq as well as those back home and what a "wrong" response might do the their carreer?

These guys have absolutely no respect for the Constitution or the protections it supposedly grants to the people and I can only imagine how they would claim that military personel gave up any hope of rights when they joined (or were recalled against their wishes).

So you don't think soldiers' emails are being monitored; even with all the sensitive and potentially embarrassing information about the war they could impart to the media?

We, that is, all "the people" as we are described in the Constitution, have good reasons to fear this bunch and most of those reasons are reasons that this Administration and the party lineing republicans in Congress have given us by their failure to respect the Constitution.

It would be naive to think otherwise; especially after Bush successfully blocked any investigation into his illegal wiretaps.

I'm sure that's seen as a blank check for the Administration.

Coming up on 24 hours here Gordon and it looks very much like we are not getting a very big sample size for either one of our topics.
1 person said they do not want to go back to Iraq.
0 people said they wanted to go back to Iraq.

Hard to draw any conclusion from one vote I guess.

internet traffic is monitered to assure that classified information is not sent out, but there have also been ****s shut down that had the wrong viewpoints. There were several articles about the war****s that got popular last year and how they were shut down and one guy even got UCMJ action I believe. The bill of rights doesn't really apply to us, but then again most people in the military don't realize that they have the rights they do have and with a good lawyer I'm sure a lot of people could successfully fight some of the things that happen to them. Idk.

Girls Gone Docile,

Thanks for your input. I'm sad to reply that, from what you report, it isn't much different from what I suspected.

No one among "the people", as the Constitution refers to them, should have to fight for their Constitutionally granted rights. If they do, then this is not a democracy, by definition.
