Prime example of the hypocrisy and idiocy of religious zealots.
Stephen Bates Friday June 24, 2005 The Guardian
"The US Southern Baptist Convention, representing the country's largest Protestant denomination, has ended its eight-year-long boycott of the Walt Disney Corporation over its allegedly pro-gay policies, due to the realisation that it has had no effect.
The move follows a similar decision last month by the American Family Association, a conservative Christian group, which ended its nine-year boycott, during which it urged supporters not to visit Disney theme parks, movies or stores because of the company's policy of holding gay days at its parks and offering health benefits to the same sex partners of employees...."
"...due to the realisation that it has had no effect."
Took them eight to nine years to figure this out.
DUH.
All those children denied a chance to enjoy Disneyland because of homophobic Christian mindless parents.
This story is much larger. Chances are very good most of those children will be poorly educated, lacking imagination, will be very narrow minded, and will be bigots.
Those parents are limiting their children's chances at being successful in life because of parental bigotry. Those are parents who ruin life for their children; lousy uncaring parents.

Yep, poorly educated and without mediocre abilities in decernment of argument and princioles of applied logic, so as to become followers of Rush (The Fat Fat Head Drug Abuser) Limbaugh.

During my many years of teaching children of all ages and all backgrounds, I learned a lot about parents, and learned a lot about the source of many problems children exhibit.
This incident, I cannot clear from my mind. This is an actual story, real and true.
Beginning of year, I test all my students to learn of their unique skill level, relative grade level, so I can write custom lessons to best address all student needs. Never is perfect but is effective.
A student of mine is flunking my science class, and flunking all of his classe save for phys ed. His assessment testing shows him working at a fourth grade level. He is in the eighth grade.
I arranged a teacher-parent conference, after much difficulty and time spent with repeated requests for a meeting. This meeting takes place during my lecture series on evolution.
The poor boy's mother blind sides me. We sit down for a meeting. I explain to her what I observed, what I think about why her son is flunking; not paying attention, no homework, poor discipline.
A bit of small talk transpires.
Suddenly, from out of a suitcase size handbag she brought, she pulls out a "family size" Bible, I mean one of those huge ones you place on a stand. She slams it down on my desk, literally starts pounding on her Bible, while shouting at me,
"This is the only book you should teach from."
I politely explain state law prohibits me from teaching from the Bible. If I do, I will be fired. I cannot teach from a Bible regardless of how good of a book the Bible is.
"I am not about to let you teach my son all that satanic dinosaur sh**. My son is not going to read his book, he is not going to do his homework, and he is not going to pay attention to your lies."
I thank her for her opinions, tell her I will do the best I can to accomodate her son's needs.
I flunk him as do three other teachers.
Our principal and counselors voted to promote the boy into high school. I did not object.
That is one of hundreds of "religious" incidents I experienced as a teacher. What I learned from those events, is children of religious zealots are poorly educated, lack discipline, are narrow minded, and don't stand a chance in life.

Beware of anyone who claims to know GOD. Claims to understand GOD. Fact of the matter is: There is a God. Every logical assesment of this we call reality supports that notion. However are we as humans capable of comprehending the motives of any entity capable of creating this universe? Nope. Therefore one should avoid embracing any religion. One should simply understand that logic dictates that this we call reality was intelligently devised. Once the religious mantra has been removed from the mind's list of excuses for human behavior only rational logic should remain. Homosexuality is the product of overpopulation. It's just that simple. You can get mad and yell about the illogical nature of such lifestyles but the fact remains that we are biological creatures and very much subject to the laws of all biological lifeforms. That being pretty much settled we can return to why Disney suffered atleast a small hit over the Gay Day issue... why after years of protest southern baptists realized they weren't hurting disney and should abort any boycott....
Plainly stated... People on the whole and in mass are just plain stupid. About ten percent of the entire world populous is actually worth talking to. The rest of them are mere wayward lemmings looking for the next ass to follow.

Couldn't have put it better myself DQR, you sound like a neo-malthusian, just like me. Too many people for the limited resources our planet has. Back to religion, I pretty much gave up on religion as soon as I could get out of the house. At 17, my dad let me enlist in the Marine Corps to get away from the Mormons in my life. I got sick of seeing my mom and sister cry because we lived in the wrong area for them to be included with the other ladies at church. The only time anyone at church wanted my dad or I around was during church softball season. We were their ringers. That being said I think Jimmy Buffett put it best on "Fruit Cakes" "Ooh, there's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning." ....Especially for the bible tossers I grew up around. And 5 for you DQR

Well, I'm glad to see that Minnie found someone. Except now Donald's on the outs. I guess he's always got Huey Dewey & Louie though.

A reminder, tomorrow, Sunday, will be the highlight of this week's Gay Pride Week. Lots of parades in major cities! My suggestion is to take in our own San Francisco parade; it is the wildest!

Anyone hear anything about Jerry? I heard he had a tough go of it when he split with Tom. He was last seen in a New York shooting gallery after hitting rock bottom. Is he part of Mickey's and Mighty's sorid affair?

The few of them that came out of the closet migrated down to Fraggle Rock which is really nothing more than a dungeon of pain for the radical muppets and the fraggles who stuck around. On any given day you can see Junior Gorg in leather watching over everything. He's now the dungeon master. Kinda sad.
