Executing a vegetable vs. nuclear war analogy. Thats a stretch even for you Art.

I've avoided my personal opinion. Here it is:

If the courts have proven her husband (who has refused another million donation to give custody to the parents,(some think cuz he caused her broken bones and doesn't want her to talk)If he is proven to be the "caretaker". To a level that satisfies the highest court, I then want her to die of his/her wishes (still think starvation is much)

I am an old conservative/libertarian, in that gov't should stay out of my business. Stay out of the families etc....

I have been discussing the checks and balances to much, I have left out power sharing, it also involves a heavy dose of power sharing. This has been a long struggle. In some cases I do want the gov't to make the rules not the courts, On personal issues such as this one. I want the courts.

But this one plays to the country, so it will be bounced through the system as it is. which is the way our system works right or wrong.

Media: what is up with all the biased coverage, brutal. Not unusual.

Political ramifications: either way this one goes, it will be used in fighting gay marriage and other court granted rights...hence activist judges are making our laws, they pulled this tube from poor woman....

I gotta go trade so shhhhhhhhh.

Michael Schiavo's legal fight to remove his brain-damaged wife's feeding tube has raised suspicions about his motives from those seeking to continue the feeding to keep his wife alive.
Why, they ask, does this muscular, 6-foot-7 Florida prison nurse refuse to divorce his wife, Terri, even though he has been living with another woman for 10 years and fathered two children with her?
Mr. Schiavo, who mostly stayed quiet while coverage of the battle was restricted mainly to Florida and specialized pro-life outlets, has come out swinging in recent days, portraying himself as a loving husband seeking to do his wife's bidding despite interfering politicians.
In interviews yesterday on CBS' "Early Show" and ABC's "Good Morning America," Mr. Schiavo was asked about divorce and relinquishing his wife's care to family members who are fighting to keep her alive.
"That [divorce] will never happen. I made a promise to Terri," he said on CBS.
On ABC, Mr. Schiavo said, "I made a promise to Terri. I love her. ... Terri is my family also. I'll be with her every step of the way."
Over the weekend, in an interview with the St. Petersburg Times, he called out President Bush.
"Come down, President Bush," he said. "Come talk to me. Meet my wife. Talk to my wife and see if you get an answer. Ask her to lift her arm to shake your hand. She won't do it."
Mrs. Schiavo was diagnosed as being in a "persistent vegetative state" after collapsing when her heart temporarily stopped beating in 1990. On CBS yesterday, Deborah Bushnell, an attorney for Mr. Schiavo, described Mrs. Schiavo's mental state, saying, "There's very little cerebral cortex. There's just no thinking brain to respond."
Mrs. Schiavo can breathe on her own, but she requires a feeding tube to stay alive because she cannot swallow.
Mr. Schiavo insists his wife told him before the 1990 fall that she did not wish to be kept alive by artificial means, but her family points out that Mr. Schiavo waited seven years before disclosing that information.
In an interview Sunday on CNN's "Late Edition," Bobby Schindler, Mrs. Schiavo's brother, said Mr. Schiavo "did not make Terri's wishes known" until "after Michael announced his engagement to the woman he's with now."
In a court filing, Mrs. Schiavo's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, argue their son-in-law is trying to rush his wife's death so he can inherit her estate or benefit from her insurance.
But George J. Felos, a Florida lawyer who represents Mr. Schiavo, told The Washington Times in January that "all the money is gone, and there is no insurance."
On CNN Sunday, Bobby Schindler said his brother-in-law stood to gain about $1 million in damages from a malpractice lawsuit he filed and won in late 1992. A jury awarded more than $700,000 for Mrs. Schiavo's care, and Mr. Schiavo received an additional $300,000.
"I don't know the financial situation of Terri's trust fund" today, Mr. Schindler said. He pointed out that Mr. Schiavo promised a jury 13 years ago that the money would be used for his wife's "rehabilitation and therapy."
"The money now has been used to pay Michael's attorneys in an effort to kill her. These financial documents have been sealed by the court," Mr. Schindler said.
In published reports, Mr. Schiavo's brother, Brian, said Michael long believed his wife would eventually recover. He recalled how he flew her to California for treatment and that he slept on a cot beside her bed for a month.
Mr. Schiavo, 41, began studying nursing to take better care of his wife, his brother said.
Two years out of high school, in 1982, Mr. Schiavo met Terri Schindler at Bucks County Community College in Pennsylvania. The couple married in 1984. In 1986, they moved to St. Petersburg, Fla., where he worked as a restaurant manager and she worked as an insurance clerk.
Today, Mr. Schiavo lives in Clearwater, Fla., and works as a nurse at the Pinellas County Jail. Mrs. Schiavo remains hospitalized in Pinellas Park, Fla.
Mr. Schiavo called House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, Texas Republican, a "little slithering snake" and was just as dismissive of the other members of Congress who passed emergency legislation granting his wife access to federal courts.
"To make comments that Terri would want to live, how do they know?" he asked.
"Have they ever met her?" Mr. Schiavo asked. "What color are her eyes? What's her middle name? What's her favorite color? They don't have any clue who Terri is. They should all be ashamed of themselves."

I would say use the money to keep Terri alive, if that money from the lawsuit has not already been used, but kill her if taxpayers have to pay the one million a year to keep her alive.

I do not want my taxes to support parasites - let family or charity do this.

Those who want to keep Terri alive should contribute to Terri's care and quit forcing the rest of us to unwillingly do this.

terri,
has proven that our country is run by lifetime appointed judges who rule from the bench and make up laws as they see fit...

the only brain dead person around here is lucky lucy

Economics teaches us about the volocity of money,
gov prints green paper, you spend green paper, gov takes some of green paper back called taxes. the green paper supporting terri shivo keeps a small business running, keeps nurses and doctors employed, keeps the little LPN in a job. she takes her green paper and gets the gas station to
change her tire... then they take there green paper and it so on and so on and so on...and all it is, is green paper... read about pavlos dog...

the only green paper waisted is that sent out side your country. even green paper spent at nasa produces things like microwave ovens and keeps the state of florida going....

think about it.

The problem is that, in interpreting the law, some judges re-write or even write the law. They become a one person combined legislature and executive office.

Two additional nurses have filed affidavits in the Terri Schiavo case that corroborate bombshell allegations by nurse Carla Sauer Iyer, who went public on Tuesday with claims that Michael Schiavo had deliberately withheld treatment from his disabled wife.

Heidi Law was a certified nursing assistant at the Palm Garden Convalescent Center in Largo, Fla., where she treated Mrs. Schiavo in 1997. In an affidavit filed with the court in August 2003, Ms. Law maintained:

"I know that Terri did not receive routine physical therapy or any other kind of therapy. I was personally aware of orders for rehabilitation that were not being carried out. Even though they were ordered, Michael would stop them."

Law continued:

"Michael ordered that Terri receive no rehabilitation or range of motion therapy. I and [another CNA] would give Terri range of motion anyway, but we knew we were endangering our jobs by doing so.

"We usually did this behind closed doors," Law said, because "we were so fearful of being caught ... we were always looking out for Michael, because we knew that, not only would Michael take his anger out on us, but he would take it out more on Terri. We spoke of this many times."

"At least three times during any shift where I took care of Terri, I made sure to give Terri a wet washcloth filled with ice chips, to keep her mouth moistened.

"On three or four occasions I personally fed Terri small mouthfuls of Jello, which she was able to swallow and enjoyed immensely. I did not do it more often only because I was so afraid of being caught by Michael."

Like nurse Iyer, Law suspected that Michael was mistreating Terri, noting in her sworn statement:

"Several times when Michael visited Terri during my shift, he went into her room alone and closed the door. This worried me because I didn’t trust Michael.

"When he left, Terri was very agitated, was extremely tense with tightened fists and sometimes had a cold sweat. She was much less responsive than usual and would just stare out the window, her eyes kind of glassy. ...

"We were convinced that he was abusing her, and probably saying cruel, terrible things to her because she would be so upset when he left."

"The Palm Gardens staff, myself included, were just amazed that a 'Do Not Resuscitate' order had been put on Terri’s chart, considering her age and her obvious cognitive awareness of her surroundings."

Carolyn Johnson, a certified nursing assistant who worked at the Sabal Palms nursing home in Largo, said Terri's mistreatment went back to at least 1993.

"During this assignment I took care of Terri Schiavo several times," Johnson said in her own August 2003 affidavit.

"I learned, as part of my training, that there was a family dispute and that the husband, as guardian, wanted no rehabilitation for Terri. This surprised me, as I did not think a guardian could go against a doctor's orders like that, but I was assured that a guardian could and that this guardian had gone against Terri's doctor's orders."

Johnson recalled: "No one was allowed to just go in and see Terri. Michael had a visitors list. We all knew that we would lose our jobs if we did not do exactly what Michael said to do."

Johnson continued:

"I remember seeing Michael Schiavo only once the entire time I worked at Sabal Palms, but we were all aware that Terri was not to be given any kind of rehabilitative help, per his instructions.

"Once, I wanted to put a cloth in Terri's hand to keep her hand from closing in on itself, but I was not permitted to do this," Johnson said, "as Michael Schiavo considered that to be a form of rehabilitation."

these "last second" claims hold no water IMO...

i am not gonna say this stuff never happened/or did happen,

BUT

why is it suddenly coming out when FOX news is suddenly giving these people their "15 minutes of fame?"

the first nurse filed POLICE REPORTS and was FIRED almost immediately afterwards...this would indicate a conspiracy of police, other nurses, doctors, facility managers/administraotors, and the District Attorneys office of the locality...

come on.......

The bill being considered in Washington would apply only to Schiavo and would allow a federal court to review the case. If it passes, attorneys would probably have to seek a federal court order to have the tube reinserted while courts review the decisions that allowed Michael Schiavo to remove the feeding tube, Schindler attorney Barbara Weller said.

i'm no lawyer BUT,
it has been suggested that this bill could have been worded much differently....
worded in a way that would have garanteed that she would have the feeding tube replaced...instead? it has been sent to be re-hashed under the same LOSING issues...looks like a political ploy...

no, i don't think this case is being "spun" by anybody but the politicians playing up to the "right to lifers"

the goal here is to set Terri up as a "sacrifice" for their cause.
if they REALLY wanted her to live? they could have passed new laws years ago that are constitutional...
they haven't...

the "game" here is to pass "unconstitutional " laws to make the Judges appear to be evil....sad...

the "partial birth abortion" issue was handled in the same way....it's all "spin"....

Is it better to kill unborn children than to kill the Terri Schiavos of the world?

Amazing how many people are pro-abortion yet anti-mercy killings.

I am for any killing anyone, anywhere that is best for my nation, my family, and for myself - stop, and if need be kill, the parasites who would kill us, or damage us physically, politically, or economically. My golden rule. Let those who would turn the other cheek suffer - that is their thing - makes them feel sanctified.
