I am logged in, but I am used to scottrade. How do I bring up buy/sell screen, streaming quotes, that sort of thing? Can't seem to find them.

Thanks ahead of time!

Hahahah....had the same question when I first got Choicetrade.

After logging in, across the top of the screen, just below the Choicetrad logo, you see two horizontal "rows" of options. The first, from left to right has

| ACCONNT | TRADING | QUOTES/RESEARCH | HELP |LOGGOFF |

and should have the option ACCOUNT selected and darkened (The,other options in that horizontal row will be light). Along the second row you can see the possible sub-selections for ACCOUNT. On the first Choicetrade screen after you logon, with the ACCOUNT selection dark, the second row will have its first selection, "OVERVIEW", selected and all the other possible selections dark.

Click "TRADING" on the first row and you will get a "STOCK ORDER" page.

There are several other possibilities, but this example should be sufficient for you to work them all out.

I have scottrade and choicetrade. The thing I don't like with choicetrade is there is no easy way to enter orders. Like scottrade, They do not have a java applet which will alert whenever the order gets filled(a streaming screen which keeps rolling telling you the status of your order) and it links very well with their streaming quotes. In choicetrade, I have to keep refreshing the web page to find out if my order got filled. I spoke to the rep at choice trade and he said I could use quotetracker which integrates with choicetrade accounts and it is easy to place orders. need to check it out. Does anoyone know of a better way to place orders in choice trade?

TampaInvestor - you are not using the right ChoiceTrade account [Smile] . Get QuoteTracker, then contact ChoiceTrade and make sure your account is either on MadWare or TradeStream. You would have everything you need and then some. QuoteTracker has full integration with both of the systems used by ChoiceTrade for trading and quotes, charts, alerts, etc. And definitely blows the doors off the Scottrade stuff.

And, for ChoiceTrade clients, QuoteTracker is automatically registered without you even having to pay for the registration. Refer to:

Isn't there a $25/month fee?

Can I get real-time quotes w/out Level2 for free using Choicetrade??

tippytwo - you would need to check with Choicetrade regarding the fees. It would depend on the type of account you have, and the volume of trading

tippytwo is right about Choietrade charging a fee for using Quotetracker and I think he is right about it being $25/month. That fee can be waved if you make something like 30 trades a month, but you have to remember to email them in the last three days of the month to repeatedly get the fee waved.

I don't mess with Choicetrade for feeding Quotetracker or anything but the basic $5 per trade, even though I probably always have enough trades for the wavier, because they are a pain. Instead, I also have an account at Lowtrades (same cost as Choicetrades to open....free....and same $5 per trade). There, the streaming desktop (it will notify you when an order is filled), with real time quotes and data is free if you maintain a $500 equity and L2s are $25/month (waved automatically without having to reapply each month if you make 25 trades) and the L2s are MUCH more extensive. There is NO fee for using quotetracker at Lowtrades.

Here's a hint: Unlike Choicetrades that prevents multiple instnaces of their streaming software, you can run independent copies of the Lowtrades streaming desktop by using different browsers (I run both Mozilla and firefox (and Quotetracker too), usually, but I have done it by using the same browser installed into different partitions of the hard disk. With multiple monitors (I have 4, two each on two computers) I can be bidding on a stock on one screen while watching the stock's L2 and time and sales on another and still following the L2s or intraday live charts of other stocks at the same time.....can't get all that with Choicetrades.

Can you put stop limit orders on stocks under $1 with Lowtrades?

Why did I chose Choicetrade?? lol..I'm going to be switching between like 5 brokers within a month.

I think I'm going to keep $10 in my Scottrade account and use Scottrade for real-time quotes and use my Choicetrade account for trading.

Sometimes. But never unless it is NYSE, AMEX or Nasdaq. And I'm never sure they will trigger under $1, but I know some do.

Last week, on an AMEX stock I had bought through Lowtrades at 1.06, I saw it moving down and chanced a stop at 0.96, just in case. The stop worked while I was off eating lunch. I've had similar situations where they stop never sold the stock, but I think it was because there was just zilch volume.

Thus, also armed with Choicetrade, I try and buy all stocks near or under a dollar there, along with anything OTC or Pink.

Neither Lowtrades or Choicetrade charges to set up an account. You can open one without any funds. (They will charge you to close out one, though.)

I don't like the amount of the charges, the need to repeatedly reapply for waviers, the skimpiness of realtime data or the skimpy L2s from Choicetrade, but at Lowtrades, with over $500 equity, I get free streaming desktop with real time data and quotes, and with 25 trades per month, I get free L2s ( had to make an initial application on the phone, but it is automatic after that) that include about any stocks except for a few pinks. Low trades does not provide backfill for use in Quotetracker, but Scottrade (free), which no longer supplies real time quotes, gives me very good backfill data for Quotetracker.

(I note also that Lowtrades allows both Premarket and after hours trading (I hear a lot of Scottrade and Ameritrade customes say they can't buy or sell certain stocks at all and never outside of open hours that I can and do with Lowtrades).....Choicetrade does NOT allow premarket trading and "says" they are working to get afterhours trading.) Like I say, the combination I have of the two brokers covers almost all situations....neither alone suits my trading.

Me personaly.. i dont need real time quotes, streamers, l2's etc.. im not a daytrader to need these things.. im basically a swing/position trader because I dont have the time that a daytrader has to devote to such things.. all i need after the market closes when i get home from work is the opening price, closing price, high and low for the day, candlestick chart with my indicators (MA, Volume, OBV and RSI) , stock screener and the ability to put a limit order for the next day as well as a stop/order (all penny stocks including pinksheets), low commissions, etc.... all that i get with Choicetrade.com ... so im satisfied... with them...
