Im a newbie with just a few hundy to start with, --- Sharebuilder looks nice and low, but FirstTrade is giving away 100 free shares --BUT-- it looks like they charge a SURCHARGE for stocks under $2 --(does anyone know if Sharebuilder does this?) --
Scottrade looked good but they have a 1k minimum....

A lot of brokers have a minmimum but they don't really care.
I know that Ameritrade has a minimum of $2000 to open an account, and that's what it says on their application, not for a margin account, just to open an account.
A friend of mine opened one yesterday with $500.
Call them, see what they tell you..

Machiavelli choicetrade should start paying you some commissions for all the people you have sent there way. I must say they are a great broker though.

Besides what Mach said above, TradingDirect adds fees when you sell (as opposed to buy). Choice Trade does not.

As far as i can see on Freetrade's site they charge commissions etc.. so nothing is free in this world.. $5,000 minimum to open a account and like 2 years trading experience to open a account etc.. etc.. thanks but no thanks ill stick to Choicetrade..

I use sharebuilder and scottrade.... Sharebuilder is great for longterm use. For 12$ a month i get 8 freetrades (well.... not totaly free) All dividens get reinvested for free. I can set it up to invest in a certain co at a certain time. Also I'm aloud to buy partial shares. ie I'm going to purchase 150. worth of xmsr on tuesday. Thats going to be 4.7897 shares. But for tradeing I use scottrade. glta....... I hope that made sence

Scottrade sucks so i heard in terms of their fee's... if you want to be a "trader" .. scottrade isnt a wise choice especially for pink stocks.. I always recommend Choicetrade...

I'm not that expierenced when it comes to pinks (as I've stated in the past). I'm just trying to learn as muck as posible. I choosed scott b/c they have offices. I know that sounds stupid but, talking to someone in person makes a lot of difference (in the begining). Exicution does take qite a while. Realtime takes about 1 min to fill. Realtime????

Let's put it this way... the Market never stops for us so we can get filled at the price we want.. its always in motion.. whether up, down or sideways... if we do get better then bid or ask its more because of luck then the brokerage.. the brokerage is just a bookie taking our bets... they cant guarantee we will get better then bid/ask ... but to answer your question yes Choicetrade is fast... just as fast as any other brokerage for fills.. where i think they excel is in their fee's, great customer service, easy to use platforms, etc.. so it doesnt hurt to try them out... if your not satisfied you can always transfer to another firm...

I have ChoiceTrade and I like it alot. I'm sure if someone sat down and made a chart showing each brokerage advantages/requirements, Choicetrade would be the obvious selection.
