Hello All,
I am a newbie here and have been looking at several different trading sites. I am considering going with Scottrade. Anybody have experiences with them? Good or bad. Thanks in advance!!

I use scottrade and it works well for me, it is inexpensive, easy to buy and sell. But I have not used any other options so I can not compare. If there is anything I do not like about it, when you sell the turn around for the cash it something like 4 or five days. I do not know if this is standard for all companies? so if you need the cash for other quick trades faster, check into faster turn around times from other companies.
Hope this helps

Im very happy with ameritrade actually! I was considering scottrade, but heard that the site is down way too much! Although Scottrade's market orders are cheaper than Ameritrade ($7 vs $10.99), I believe their Limit Orders, which I mostly do, are more expensive! Research it and choose whichever is best for u

Im also looking to open an online account and have heard great things about scottrade. The other place im looking at is tdwaterhouse, but their commissions look too high, especially if im going to be playing around with about $1k in a number penny stocks.
Anyone have any experiencw with any online discount sites they would like to share?

I use buyandhold.com, but I don't do penny stocks. There are advantages and disadvantages.
Their advantages are:
1. You can open an account with as little as you want and can add to it as you wish.
2. There is a plan you can choose for unlimited number of trades for a $14.99 monthly fee.
3. Money from a stock sale is available the same day.

The disadvantages:
1. They only deal in about 4,000 stocks.
2. You can only buy/sell during three 'windows' each day.

I opened an account about a year ago with only $300, and even with the disadvantages, I'm satisfied with them.
