I am still a newbie also, but have been trying to do a lot of research, and I would think it would be difficult to do good DD on, and keep track of 10.
I have caught myself many times wanting to play everything...it also depends on whether you are trying to flip for profit or hold in intermediate and long term trades. There is a little bit of everything.
Personally, I have less than 10, but want even less than what I do own. I am picking 1-2 for longs depending on price, and 1-2 for flips and short term runs...once I feel I am making consistent returns, I will either add more stocks or put more dollars in.
Just my two cents...figure out who you can trust here and who you can't - it will help you tremendously - GLTY!

I have been doing this for a while and have had great success thus far.
Personally I never look for a "long" here in pennyland. I have watched "good" stocks and even they should be sold at the right increase in pps. I usually have 3-5 stocks that I actively play. Sometimes I will trade the same stock 2-4 in a 1 week period. I think that with 10 stocks you will have a hard time making money as the losses will more often offset your earnings. Obviously there are many other traders with more experience and I am sure they have a system that works for them. You need to figure out how much time you can devote to your picks and make sure and spend ample time researching each. I agree with the last comment SherriT made: "figure out who you can trust here and who you can't - it will help you tremendously - GLTY!"
There are several senior board members who will help you out if you just ask.
now my 2 cents... dont buy a stock with over 20 pages of messages.. in my experience.. those are the stocks that I have lost monies in.

Adhereing to this rule would have ruled out the IGAI run of 1300% intraday.

I guess Im different.... Most stocks on ALSTOCKS board run up sooner or later... So I Buy Low and hold till they make money..... some never do BUT i hold enough of them to really do gr8 in the long run... I own PAIM PAIV (Got mixed up in the restricted share thing) EQBM PBLS EMXC AAGM AWBV AIPN BANY BIGN CIRT CKEI CNES CTCK DDSI EYII FMLY FPPL GMED GSPG HBSC HMSG IDCN IMDS JMCP MYRG OMOG ONEV PGPM PLNI PTSC SEVI SFAD SMMW SNIO TNOG TTRIF UNCN USXP WTVN XTEM ADVC and a few more.... Recently made money on xkem(several times) aagm(several times) Paim the recent run up.. Ndol Pgpm .... Ckys .... Flip several others..... However I did goof with PTSC... when all the news was coming out about the Patent Money they were gettin from lots of Big Corp... I chased it on the way up...... and Bought 1000 shares at $1.76 thought It would hit big.....It didnt so Im in the hole on that one BigTime.... But I wont sell it till it makes money...... It will if PTSC ever releases the amounts of money they are receiving from the Royalties they r getting from Big Corp.... Almost celphone, computer, camera ect has to have their technology to operate ..... So I will hold it forever till I make $$$$ I am actually up (over all)$3000 in the last 7 weeks.... Dont know how that rates ..... But works for me.....

i buy them when everyone has lost interest in the stock .
i mean after the run when the stock falls to its lowest where i see very little volume .i buy that time and usually in couple of months with some pr the stock goes up again
have tried few stocks recently igia almost had no volume with 0.006. i cashed on it.
my next pick is vper.pk.its at its low with almost little volume . this stock would run and give me double my money in couple of months i feel.

I would hate to wait months...I tend to purchase right before the run up, when there is a lot of talk about good things happening, like ATWT....been loading up at .0031 and .003 and expect it to be at .005-.006 this week if not more. I can't hold these stocks more than 2 weeks

over 3,000 in 7 weeks...that return seems to be decent at best. I started playing with $5,000 4 weeks ago and have made $6100

but sometimes when u chase u could be a loser.
crdm went up 0.24 today it is at 0.055,
never chase a stock or fall in love . its time now to load on crdm coz this stock does not belong to this level . it has fda approval.

thats the best thing to do . not during the run but much before the run.
this is what i to but sometimes the accumulation mode takes weeks . if u really see igia the accumulation mode was for good 3-4 weeks before they let it run.
buy low o/s stocks but the only high float stock i like for now is xkem . could double up soon

I KNOW THIS stock is to expensive for many of you. But this stock will go up 50% tomorrow in the am for sure. CAA. Check it out in the am. It's a AMEX stock. Good luck to all.

started the year with $291 in my scottrade account(up over 7900% now), have held a few, and held many, but prefer around 4-8, and ALWAYS have $$$ on the side line for a HOT PLAYS!!
***different strategies work for different people, but the more you hold IMO from my experiences: A)the more you hold, the more losers you will hold (lets face it folks, tough enough to make a true 25-50% on a solid play on one , let alone many) B)the more you hold , the more time you must research to really make it payoff C) if the market flattens or goes down ,like may and june did,almost everything will go down
also:
*don't be afraid to sell a stock immediately if it goes down when it didn't go the way you thought *try to take profit when you are up a true(after fees)25-50% at least on some shares, it makes it harder to have aloser (free shares are always great of course) *take mine and everyone else's thoughts on these boards for what they are >>OPINIONS>> and NOTHING ELSE>>>>Good or Bad(if you like the stock hold) *don't be afraid to double your shares if your holding a stock you like that goes much lower than your original buy price(s), it can really help lower you position, and make you a nice return if you do get a run(just double check your DD) *you must stay with your stocks daily if you want to maximize your opportunites,and try not to ever jump into a stock without really taking a good look.....biggest newbie mistake, IMO
there are many , many other things i do to maximize my chances, and there are many more savy veterans on this board to help newbies and give advice

Should re-name this "Surviving in the Pennies". Good info. My advice is to try and stay out of the pinks. Other than that I'm not the one to be giving advice since I'm still learning but I sure am soaking it up.

i am new to the game as well, started no more than 2 weeks ago. at first i was jumping to whatever i read on this board, what's hot and what's not. trust me, learn the hard way but on this board (any stocks board for that matter)it's only opinion. you do your DD and see if you wana go with it or not.
I have had some good days and many bad ones. i ain't losing $ so i am happy.
N E ways, don't keep penny stock as long investments is the 1st thing i learn.
