POMONA, CA, Jun 20, 2006 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX) -- General Environmental Management, Inc. ("GEM") (GEVM), a leading environmental and waste remediation company, today announced it has been awarded a five-year contract worth $3 million from the Metropolitan Water District (MWD) of Southern California. GEM is providing services for the management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste from the public utility.
Services include project oversight, labor, logistics, transportation and disposal services, training, and Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS) Consulting Services.
"Our extensive suite of services and dedication to customer service were key elements to our securing this award," stated Tim Koziol, chairman and CEO of GEM. "This recent award builds upon our five-year relationship with MWD. In addition, we see an opportunity to use our GEM Mobile Treatment Services (GEM-MTS), which we acquired in March from K2M. These services enable the on-site treatment of wastewater and are, therefore, more efficient, at a lower cost. As we have stated before, adding niche business segments with higher margins is one part of GEM's overall growth strategy, and GEM-MTS is the first of many we anticipate for the company."
