Getting true float on pennies can be a lesson in frustration. I would be interested too if anyone had a system.

Go to pinksheets and sift through the latest financial statements. You should be able to gleen the A/S and O/S from there.

the quick way is finance.yahoo and/or bloomberg; they frequently disagree; however, if the percentage difference is not great, you have a handle on it. Next is pinksheets.com, "company info." The best is to call the TA. If the TA won't tell you? Big ol' red flag! (sometimes they make you fax your request, which seems lame to me, but at least you get an answer...) Sometimes, the company has an IR dept or person--but when I have reservations, I always call the TA...

Something I've never been clear on Tex, as a publicly traded company, aren't they obligated to make the float available, at least when asked?

With filing companies, everything supposed to be transparent; pinks not required to file anything... TA will usually tell you, unless gagged by the company. That's almost a given they are diluting...
Now, the pinks are moving to a three-tiered system, in which those companies in the top two tiers supposedly will be "like" filing companies...

TA has to tell you the OS, not required to tell you the AS or float, but generally you can at least get the AS from them then dig and dig and dig to find all the restricted to determine the float.

Thanks Tex..Guess I should of clarified my question...I was referring to the pinks. To the others, I would never trust the information in pinksheets.com. or anywhere except from the transfer agent. The other information is usually way outdated...basically worthless!

Is there a source for getting comprehensive TA contact information? Or is the best bet to google search until you find a number/email?

Yeah, you can usually get the A/S from the records with the state of incorporation. For any newbies I see more and more companies choosing Wyoming to incorporate in because they have NO LIMIT on the number of shares a public company can authorize (A/S).

This is not a cure all for finding info, but I've found using the "Crucial DD" section of *********.com to be valuable. Plenty of links within this site.

have never used DD machine, but I know some who swear by it...
Bigfoot, I usually ask the company directly who's the TA, or look in company info at ppinksheets.com or occasionally state filings. Your broker *should* be able to tell you, but some front-office kids don't know that...
