Innova Holdings, Inc a robotics and automation technology company, announced this morning that its newest product, the Universal Robot Controller 3, is in the final stages of development and is scheduled for the first shipment(s) next month.
Sales for this next-generation Universal Robot Controller(TM) are already underway, with NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University among the first scheduled to put the controller in service.
The controller has been developed by Robotic Workspace Technologies, or RWT(TM), an Innova Holdings company. RWT is a leading provider of open-architecture PC controls, software and related products that we believe improve the performance, applicability and productivity of robots and other automated equipment in industrial environments.
"We believe the URC3 represents the latest advancements in open PC technology, motion control and communications interfaces," said Robert Ballard, vice president of operations for RWT. "In our opinion, the controller is ideal for robotic applications that require high-speed, simple setup and straight-forward programming. And we're confident our customers will appreciate the new Teach Pendant, a 10.4-inch LCD touch-screen monitor that can function as a stand-alone monitor when working offline or while the robot is operating."
The new controller also offers customers a sleek, compact design, and is 27 percent smaller overall than its predecessor. According to the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, in cooperation with the International Federation of Robotics, there are approximately 1 million industrial robots in service across the globe. "We believe many of these older robots are prime candidates to have their controllers upgraded to the URC3," Ballard said.
"We believe that any company thinking about upgrading their robots or adding robots should be interested in learning how the URC3 will offer a significant cost savings versus replacing an entire robot system," he said.
