Global Matrechs Inc. Announces Receipt of First Commercial Order for NuCap(TM) Tuesday March 28, 8:30 am ET
RIDGEFIELD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 28, 2006--Global Matrechs, Inc. http://www.globalmatrechs.com (OTCBB: GMTH - News) reports that it has received the first commercial order for NuCap(TM). The order was placed by Battelle-Pacific Northwest Laboratory in Richland, WA located at the Hanford Nuclear Waste Site. NuCap(TM) will be used to cover the walls of a "pit" in which there has been a radiation spill. Battelle was looking for a product that could adhere to concrete and to coat a radioactive residue spill along with providing life time isolation. This means Battelle wants to encapsulate this spill only one time. ADVERTISEMENT
Michael Sheppard, President of Global Matrechs, Inc. said, "Even though we have shipped NuCap(TM) to Hanford in the past, this is an order for a specific purpose and it is very satisfying to see the product starting to get the type of interest we expected in the past." Sheppard also stated "We are extremely pleased to have received our first commercial order from product that has been manufactured by Dow Corning, which demonstrates NuCap's applicability to cover radiation spills. This order generates the first revenue from NuCap(TM). We hope this will serve as a starting point and lead to additional orders for such purposes in this market."
Battelle was looking for a sure one-time encapsulation material and having known about NuCap(TM) wanted to use it. We shipped this order in March.
MORE ABOUT NuCap(TM)
NuCap(TM) is a silicon-based geocomposite which is highly radiation-resistant (unaffected by Alpha-radiation; gamma- and beta-radiation up to an absorbed dose of up to 10 gigarads), and can be provided in a variety of forms (fixative, foam, sealer or grout) to encapsulate and contain radioactive contamination. Additional NuCap(TM) characteristics include fire resistance (can withstand mechanical and Hot-cut transient temperature spikes up to 1,100 degrees F); corrosion resistant (to strong Alkali and acid solutions); easily applied to horizontal, vertical, or overhead surfaces, and can polymerize underwater; can form a smooth and wear-resistant surface for ease of decontamination; mixes with waste, which has up to 50% water by weight; adheres to unclean, wet or corroded surfaces and hot metal surfaces up to 120 degrees F) effective up to a 1:6 NuCap(TM)-to-radioactive-waste matrix; penetrates openings as small as 1.0 mm; uses conventional equipment in an easy application; is non-toxic and inert environmentally; and does not generate hazardous waste by itself.
