AboveNet Announces Westlin Business Continuity Solution

Houston Area Covered for Business Contingencies

NEW YORK, Oct 12, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- AboveNet, Inc, a premier metro network provider of custom fiber connectivity solutions, today announced the Houston kickoff of their collaboration with Westlin Corp. for business continuity solutions. AboveNet's extensive Houston metro fiber network has been extended to provide enterprise customers with both protected private and shared optical network services to Westlin's Disaster Recovery Data Center located in Montgomery, Texas.
AboveNet and Westlin are collaborating to provide synchronous and high capacity asynchronous storage connectivity to ensure reliably consistent levels of data protection at Westlin's underground Disaster Recovery Data Center. Easy access and seamless connectivity highlight the low latency solution enabling aggressive Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) for mission critical data. Options such as remote backup, active clustering, redundancy, and resiliency help solve compliance issues with regulatory requirements such as Sarbanes Oaxley and HIPPA.

AboveNet is providing OC-n level SONET services as well as Fast Ethernet and Gig Ethernet capabilities. AboveNet is connected to the top 14 metro areas in the U.S. with 1.5 million fiber miles of metro access and is a Tier1 Internet provider.

"Surviving today's plethora of unpredictable business conditions, both natural and man made, demands exact planning and execution of business continuity processes," said MaryBeth Nance, Director of Business Development for AboveNet. "For Houston area businesses the choice is now easy."

Time Warner Telecom to Provide Network Connectivity for Westlin Bunker Disaster Recovery Operations

HOUSTON, Sep 29, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Westlin Corporation (Pink Sheets:WSTN) is pleased to announce that it is working with Time Warner Telecom to offer advanced Secure Collocation and Disaster Recovery services at the bunker via Time Warner Telecom's advanced fiber optic network. The key to a successful Disaster Recovery plan requires a reliable connection from a customer's primary site to its backup site. The Time Warner network provides a fast, stable, Ethernet based solution from over 250 buildings in the Houston area as well as 44 markets nationwide. The Houston area just missed major damage for the second time in a month with Hurricane Rita and the Bunker offers a unique data security solution that ensures a company can continue to operate with minimal interruptions.
The new connections to Time Warner's network allow customers to use layer 2 private Ethernet VLANS directly from their office to the bunker at speeds from 10MBps to Gigabit. These connections allow businesses to replicate their data in real time to backup servers in the bunker. A real time replication program reduces the recovery period for a business that loses their primary site from days to hours.

Additionally, Time Warner's new "IP trunks" telephone service is being integrated into the bunker Disaster Recovery program. Customers who also use Time Warner for local telephone service can redirect their telephone service intact from their primary office to the bunker disaster recovery center with one phone call. The IP Trunks service allows a customer to migrate to new SIP-based Voice over IP services and cost savings without having to replace their PBX equipment.

For more information please contact the Houston Time Warner office at 713-341-4321 or the Bunker at 281-404-2223 Houston / 936-582-5953 Conroe.
