I posted in the canada stocks forum but I got no response. I am looking to trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange. I am currently trading with Ameritrade for US Equities. I need a good Canadian Equity Broker that allows for 1k account minumims/ with cheap-fair commissions. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Ok well I have done a alittle googling and I am stumped I found a few different Canadian brokers that seemed reasonable but when i went to apply they asked for my SIN (social insurence number) US citizens dont have one.. as far as I know. Maybe i got off the wrong boat but isn't there a US online broker which will allow me to trade on foriegn exchanges(ie. toronto)? Sorry Im a bit new to this, learning everything I can about everything I can, as fast as I can, and trying to start 2 businesses in the mean time.. my heads going to explode. T.UTS... watch it soar Thanks

Might try looking at some Forex website. Some of them also allow stock trading from multiple exchanges alone with currency trading. Most are strictly currency but there are a few that include stocks.
