Just curious with how much money do you guys play; how much money do you have in your brokerage account?

From my experience I can say that many start with under a $1000 and it's pretty hard to make money that way. You always try not to invest everything into one stock so you might put $200-$300 into one play and even if it goes up 20-30% that's OK but not that good..expecialy when you lose a few times.

Money was never a big motivation for me, except as a way to keep score. The real excitement is playing the game.

You can start with a little bit of money like you are saying but it dossent do much when your stock jumps i personally started out with 5000.00 to play with now i play with roughly 20,000 people say dont put it all into one stock but thats not me I figure if I do enough dd on that stock and find out its a good company with a future why not throw it all in there plus thats how i usually get the best returns . good luck with any of your future investing

I started with 3000.00 in penny's. Much more in large caps. I like to play about 1000.00 at a time. If I like a stock I will have more in it but if I'm just looking at a runner 1000.00 does me just fine. I like to take profit at about 30-40% which is 3-400.00 a trade. Doesn't always work that way but thats how I like to play it.

The most I put in a penny stock was $20,000. I made 40% and looking at buying back in. I have done private placements for $5000. I started with $500 and made $3000 in 4 months. Those were the days my friend I thought they would never end. They did now All my junk is flat right now. It comes in waves. It all depends on the info. I have. I do have $8,000 in a off the wall stock in Canada. The bad part is I think this .25 stock will go to $2.00.

I have about $20,000 to play with in the stock market. That's for all stocks, not just pennies. To me, penny stocks are entertainment. They are the most exciting to follow, but can also be the most depressing as well. Therefore, I only play with a few grand at a time. I'm not going to invest my entire life savings in micro cap stocks. Most of my money is in mutual funds.

I play with $10,000 in microcaps. I put 1,000 into any stock that is running and hold or drop. I have done alright... Still learning.

You must post more then I think 5 posts then your new member will change to member. Then you can vote. As long as it say new member under you name it will not allow you to vote in polls.

If you want to day trade and you're in the US you've got to have at least $25,000..here in Canada there is no that minimum so there are a lot of people who want to daytrade with under $2000 and 90% of them end up losing money.

Personaly, I can't see myself investing more than 50% of my money somewhere where I'll be getting steady return every year. I like to risk knowing that the pay off could be much better, that's why I switched to pennys a while ago.

You never invest more than you can afford to lose. That doesn't mean that you plan on losing, but in the stock market and especially the pennies anything is possible.

I'm new to trading, learning as I go along and reading all I can in between family and day job. However, I've got $30k to play with exclusive of 401k. I've invested about 2/3 of that in a mix of mf and NYSE/NASDAQ with high morningstar rating. They're doing ok ... some gains since beginning of the year. With the balance, I'm playing with speculatives. Made $4k on INTZ and high percentage returns on MLXO and AKOL. Holding GTEL and CNES in decent numbers waiting for the jump. Up total of $8k in a little over 3 months. I'm happy with the performance. Just my 2cents. GT, I appreciate your input.

I guess it depends upon your definition of play. While my brokrage account in 6 figures (barely).I have long term, 1 year or more, short term up to 1 year, and flippers, up to a few months.
I think you have to buy at least 100,000 shares if your going to flip something. I have 10k in HCCF I dont consider it a long term but a long-short term.
A stock like CNES and EMTK I have two groups of 250,000 and 50,000 shares only selling one at a time, in case it keeps going up I will not miss the bus.As soon as I sell one I will put in a buy to replace it.
