On Wednesday, crude futures rose after a car bomb exploded in Saudi Arabia.
February crude futures jumped $1.87 to close at $43.64 a barrel. The dollar
climbed off recent record lows against the euro. Gold futures fell as much as
$11 an ounce as the dollar bounced. The Dow closed down 25.35 points, or 0.2
percent, at 10,829. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.19 points to 2,177. The
S&P 500 slipped 0.09 points to 1,213.45.
