i am new at this n a way and my question is if someone were to buy 20000K shares of a stock that only has a daily volume of about 5000 shares a day and the stock jumps big, can thee guy just turn around and sell his 20K shares at market price and make a profit???

Probably not. Not to say you can't but it real hard if the volume is that low. Not knowing which stock it's hard to say. But I would look at past trends to see how volume goes up and down. Does price tend to increase with volume increases? You can always put in a limit order at whatever you want to sell at and just leave it at that until it sells.

so hwta your saying is it is possible if you find the right stock. The other part of the Q was not answered though, if it does fly up, can i sell real quck with a market oder or do i have to wait and put a ask.??

so DDog, your saying if i had about 20K, id have to sell them in like 10K intervals but it is possible to run a stock up and then dump it and mae the profit?/

I doubt very much that one individual could accomplish it. The key is to find a steady climber and piggy back it up. Pump and Dump is an issue that occurs, but I seriously doubt that without a MASS outpouring of DD and enthusiasm anyone could stir a stock much. In the first place you would have had to create a very large following that trusted your judgement and stock savvy. A lot of hard work. You are only as good as the last stock you yell about in the penny game. Better luck with the Piggy Back ride on a steady climber. Market manipulation is done, but not by you or me.
