Patriot Scientific Offers Optimized IGNITE Microprocessor as Price/Performance Leader for High Volume Markets

SAN DIEGO, Sep 23, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Patriot Scientific Corporation ( PTSC ) announced today that availability of the company's IGNITE technology, the highest performing 32-bit synthesizable processor core family in the embedded consumer electronics market, has been released for licensing by OEMs and semiconductor companies.

To date, the IGNITE core has been licensed and utilized primarily for developmental wireless and multimedia applications. However, with PTSC's on- going development efforts, the product family is now positioned for use in high-volume market applications such as broadband access, networking, digital television and office automation. Silicon-based implementations of the IGNITE family designed for specific customer use are expected to enter the market early in calendar year 2005.

IGNITE is ideally suited for performance-hungry applications that are extremely cost-sensitive. The technology offers the consumer industry's leading performance per silicon-area ratios, along with a wide range of configurable features. Concurrently, PTSC offers SOC design tools and software support that minimize development time, risk and cost. Development support includes tailored, front-to-back-end design methodologies using standard high- performance libraries from industry-leading companies.
