I just realized it's been a year since I joined AllStocks. Actually I spent a couple of weeks reading hours and hours of posts before I joined on Aug. 30th, 2003.

What a year it's been! I've learned much from a lot of sharp people. Some of the brightest were Chicago Joe and Old Mullet (Uncle Milty) who unfortunately aren't here anymore - and Rickpic and Darda Dog; who I'm sure many are glad that they came back.
In a year it's amazing to see how many have come and gone - and to see how others have learned and grown too. I think we can see it in each others posts. How people go from timid and shy asking those first scary questions to listing their own picks and advice a few months later!

I've learned soooo much from MANY people here - and just want to say "Thanks"!

It's great to see all the young people here - including the high school and college kids, my own son included! You don't learn what we can learn here in classrooms. But it's sad to see how many have quick 'beginner's luck', then get burnt on the next few picks and become disenchanted with the market. THe big thing is: You don't have to Win on EVERY trade - you just have to get out of the bad ones Quick. I know that can be tough in pennies - or when a stock is tanking and you CAN'T get out (the falling knife). I've been there, and have been in one stock for 6 months now (CDVJ) that I wish I had never bought - but you roll with the punches. And don't EVER put more money into the market than you can afford to lose. All of it. Picture this as a slower version of a Blackjack table. (You Usually hold onto your money here a little bit longer)! It's sad to see some of the college kids saying things like "I need this stock to go back up - I used $600 of my textbook money". I hope it does go up for them - but Learn a Lesson. That's the kind of money you DON'T play with.

And don't forget - this site has a wealth of information to help you learn. Da Dog has also posted GREAT references many times over!

Continued Good Luck to you all,
Steve

Dar -

Then HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to BOTH of us! There are other good sites out there, and I visit a few - but this one seems to 'have it all' - especially super people!

I LOVED your "Fetch"-o-matic this morning! I thought you were kidding til I punched in the real symbol!

All I had running through my mind was a K-Tell or Ronco TV Infomercial (Kitchen Magician, Ginsu Knife, Vegomatic) - with a Robot fetching bones for your Dog! LOL ;-)

Woof - Howl!

Enjoy the day! Jan. will be here before you know it. Actually, Jan. was the last good month I had - then the walls came crashing down on my holdings, picks , and favorites. I thought Ibiz would be "Stock of the Year" last JAnuary............

Hi gang! I heard a pinkie being plugged on the financial station here on a national show: "Ron and Dick's MOney and Travel Show" or something close. It's GPGI - Global Platinum Gold. They were also talking about it on June 28th and it was 5 or 6 cents. Now it's 16-17 cents. Volume is low - ESPECIALLY for a pink. Avg. is 109,000 a day - today was about 60,000. Any thoughts? I'm thinking if these guys keep puming it on the radio - it may run.

The website is: www.globalplatinumonline.com

Thanks,
Steve

Love the market-Thanks, I noticed my accounts starting to go down around April right as the new law to stop naked shorting took effect. And it made it worse. They are now trying again and the spotlight is temporarily on the situation. So this is a great time to make some money IMO. This time around instead of taking free shares I am taking the cash. Thank you very much. For stocks that will still be actively running I may maintain a small position but overall I like the Dog's way to play these. Playing works better than investing for most of them. Of course there are exceptions to every rule. IMO -Happy trading. -Debi -IBZT is one of many I wish I played instead of marrying.

WoW - They've already shut down the eastern half of FLorida for Hurricane Frances. YOu should see the people lines up for gasoline, propane gas for grills, plyuwood at Home Depot - and they're almost throwing fists for bread and water at the supermarkets.

Look like we're gonna get SLAMMED on the east coast this time...... And Orlando and Daytona will have a double-whammi. E. Orlando got hit pretty good by Charley on August 13th - especially for being 100 miles INLAND for where Charley hit in Port Charlotte.

Good luck to everyone here in FL and all the way up the East Cost of the US!

Thanks guys - and Happy 1 year Anniv. to you Glassman!

The Hurricane Watch is from down near Homestead all the way up to Flagler Beach (just north of Daytona Beach) - and it's still not a perfect science - so it can hit anywhere just like Charley. They kept saying Charley was gonna hit Tampa - then on the day of the storm they dropped it 200 miles south to Ft. Myers, and just before hitting land, it zigged north and whacked Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda, and proceeded north northeast through LAke Wales, E Orlando and exited land at Daytona. It's like it came on shore at the 7 hour hand on a clock, and mae a perfect NNE line up and exited at 1 o'clock. ALMOST straight up....

Lock it down Steve. If needed, I have friends a couple hundred miles inland from Brunswick Georgia who would be more than happy to put you and yours up for a while if needed. Just yell.

Thaks so much for the offer Dar - but I think we'll be fine. I have real good shutters (the ones made AFTER Andrew) and plenty of supplies, and I'm 13 miles inland from the ocean - but after seeing what Charley did to E. Orlando I guess that doesn't mean much). My youngerst son's coming home from school in Orlando in a few hours, and my daughter and her boyfriend are heading west of UCF to Tampa to his parents house. My oldest boy is still hoping the storm stays away long enough for him to get on the plane early tomorrow to go to the Wisconsin game (Vs. UCF. - there has been all the talk and hype about George O'Leary as the new Head COach at UCF "The O'Leary Era" - and he can't even be coaching the first game Sat. - the poor man's MOm died yesterday).

We've got plenty of supplies and canned goods. I think I have enough propane for my gas grille to get us through a few days. I was going to get more yesterday 'just in case' - but people were lined up for a 1/2 mile and it was a mob scene. I figured "Let those with none get it" - and if we lose power for more than a couple of days - we'll head over to my mother-in-law's condo in Naples (90 miles from me). She's not moving down for the winter for 2 more weeks! Ewwwwwwwwwww !!! LOL

Happy trading gang! I'll let you all know what's going on if I still have power tomorrow - Sat. (But I'm sure you'll see more on TV)!

Steve

PS: The local forcasters here are REALLY worried about the effect on LAke Okeechobee - which has flooded and killed many before in a hurricane.
