VERUS2000(TM) Green Card Authentication System to be Validated by Second Government Agency
DENVER, July 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BSI2000, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: BSIO), a leading developer of integrated optical card- based systems and technology, announced today that the state of Tennessee Driver's License Issuance Division of the Department of Safety will conduct validation field trials of the company's patent-pending VERUS2000(TM) Green Card authentication system. The State of Tennessee issues "driving certificates" to resident aliens who can present a Green Card demonstrating that they are legal residents of the United States. Many states have similar programs. VERUS2000 is designed to instantly confirm the authenticity of Green Cards as a way of deterring potential terrorists from obtaining state government- issued photo identification documents by presenting counterfeit Green Cards. Jack Harper, President and CEO of BSI2000 said, "I am delighted with the growing interest in and market response to our proprietary Green Card authentication system. We now have two separate government groups validating the system in real time field trials. The two agencies have a common concern and need -- homeland security." BSI2000 developed the system to inexpensively and reliably detect counterfeit Green Cards being used as primary identification by employees at secure facilities. Government security sources say that fraudulent Green Cards represent a significant national security threat. Certain aspects of the VERUS2000 system are covered by approximately 20 patents that BSI2000 has filed to date on optical card systems. The Operations Division/Airport Security at Denver International Airport (DIA) is currently using the VERUS2000 Green Card authentication system in a continuing on-site field trial that authorities have described as "successful." "Our VERUS2000 technology has immediate applications in helping to close certain security gaps. Several of the 9/11 terrorists, for example, were operating with counterfeit identification documents. Subsequently BSI2000 was asked to develop this new product and I am seeing significant interest both here and abroad," Harper said.
