Wellstone to Expand Into Cigarette Manufacturing and Distributing

DURHAM, N.C., Sept. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Wellstone Filters (OTC Bulletin Board: WLSF - News) announced today that it will manufacture and market its own proprietary brand of cigarettes under the "Wellstone" trade-name.

Utilizing its proprietary, patented cigarette filter, Wellstone will join the group of small manufacturers who have gained market share in recent years (8% of total US market of 391 billion cigarettes sold in 2002) in this multi- billion dollar market. Sales of the Wellstone brand are expected to begin in calendar 2005. Wellstone intends to develop a cigarette that is lower in tar yet does not compromise the pleasurable effects of smoking.

Wellstone's strategic plan as well as its philosophy is based on two facts: First, that quitting smoking can be difficult. Second, smokers do not apparently focus much attention on tar levels. In 2002, 64% of all cigarettes sold were high (more than 10 mg) in tar. Wellstone believes that part of the reason smokers prefer high tar cigarettes is because of the taste. The goal of Wellstone is to reduce tar and certain associated carcinogens without affecting taste. As Wellstone's new CFO / COO Samuel Veasey states, "We believe people will try Wellstone for its lower price, and come back for its taste."

Until now, Wellstone has focused its efforts on developing its patented formulation with the intent to license it to existing manufacturers. Management has not abandoned its plan to license the formulation, and continues discussions with industry players. Management has determined that manufacturing and distributing a Wellstone line of cigarettes will be in the best interests of its stockholders, particularly if Wellstone is able to successfully market its brand. The successful launch of a Wellstone brand should add significant value to the company. More importantly, the success of a Wellstone brand will, it is anticipated, lead the way for other manufacturers to utilize the filter in their own cigarettes under a Wellstone license.

Wellstone Filters Projects $11 million sales for first 12 months; Advances Timetable

DURHAM, N.C., November 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Wellstone Filters (OTC Bulletin Board: WLSF - News) projected net sales of $11.1 million for the first twelve months of sales, and $31.7 million for the second twelve months of sales. Wellstone had previously announced that it plans to launch its full flavor and light cigarette lines in June 2005, but currently management plans to accelerate the schedule for launch of its new line of cigarettes by two months to April 2005. Management attributes the advancement in Wellstone's business plan to extraordinary efforts and cooperation by suppliers to meet an accelerated timetable. Advancement of the timetable will enable Wellstone to sell for nine months in 2005 instead of seven, for a 60% increase in 2005.

Wellstone is the only small (less than $50 million in sales) US cigarette manufacturer which is publicly traded. The remainder of the small manufacturers, which make up about 12% of the total cigarette market, are privately held or foreign. Management believes Wellstone's access to the US capital markets will assist Wellstone in its goal to become the largest company in the growing discount cigarette market.

Wellstone is also at this time preparing its filing with the US Federal Trade Commission to meet its accelerated timetable. The FTC filing primarily consists of the package designs for Wellstone Filter's full flavor and light flavor cigarettes. The FTC requires advance filing and approval of packaging.
