SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 8, 2004--American Fire Retardant Corp. (OTCBB:AFRT)--announced today that they have signed a Master Teaming Agreement with Relco, for over 70 years, one of the West Coast's leading manufactures of insulator pads to the bedding industry. James Wheeler, AFRC's Sales and Marketing Director, says that "American Fire Retardant Corp. and Relco have signed this agreement today in a joint effort to develop additional sales for both AFRC and Relco and to capture substantial market share in the fire retardant space that has been created by the passing of California's TB603. For those who might not be aware, TB603 mandates that the mattress industry meet state-regulated flammability standards for their mattresses."

The joint brand that this agreement is intended to create is Relco-AFRC Inside for the mattress and bedding industry and Safe & Sound products for retail markets. Both companies agree to work together to develop the mattress fire barrier market and consumer fire and sound barrier products market for this new Relco-AFRC product line.

AFRC will support the initial marketing program in a joint effort to jump start a market that would otherwise wait until January, 2005 the effective date of TB603. This is to include the bedding product (fire barrier pad) to be branded Relco-AFRC Inside that will be put into mattresses during the manufacturing process and protects the internal, highly flammable filling material from catching fire if the bedclothes are ignited. Relco tested and passed TB603 with a mattress that was made with the new Relco-AFRC Inside product in early March and later that month attended the ISPA industry show with the mattress set that was used in the test and received a tremendous response. AFRC will launch its American Safety Products line of products at the Hardware show in Chicago from the 18th to the 20th of this month to introduce the complete line of fire safety products to the anticipated 15,000 hardware buyers.
