I am looking for an alert system that will help you based on news.

I use the Stock Alert system on my Ameritrade account. I have it setup so that I receive a text message on my cell phone whenever my target Alerts are triggered... I usually only set a target PPS.

Your idea about Alerts based on Company News is interesting. I checked, and I see that I can also set an Alert in Ameritrade when there is a "Change In Analyst Recommendation".

A change in analyst recommendation is usually triggered by Company News. This too, can be sent by text message to your cell phone.

I think that you receive a number between 1.00 and 5.00. And the Analyst recommendations are...

Strong Buy (1.00)
Moderate Buy (1.01 - 2.00)
Hold (2.01 - 3.00)
Moderate Sell (3.01 - 4.00)
Strong Sell (4.01 - 5.00)

Recommendations are not made by Ameritrade, Inc.

I haven't tried this, but I just check-marked the box to start receiving text messages for this. If it gets too annoying, I may turn it off... if it becomes VERY useful, this may be good.

I hope that this info helped.

Good Luck To ALL!!

I use Scottrade, yeh I know I know, lol, to expensive, but they have an excellent news alert service.
Yahoo has free news alert, even Google Search has a news alert free. The deal is speed. How quickly do ya get them. If it takes to long to get your alert, you're setting watching Streamer and wondering why XXXX is going up, before the alert arrives, lol.
I tried the alerts at nasdaq.com, but sometimes it's literally hours, before ya get it!! I haven't tried Yahoo, and have just this weekend signed up a couple at Google, so we'll see.
BTW: I'm talking of PR/News alerts only. Not percentage/vol. alerts:-)
Good luck.
