Ya know its funny, I am usually very good at most things I try but I am lossing my ASS in this game. I either buy to high, sell to quick, or hold to long. Its like no matter what I do it goes the OTHER WAY. Anyone else feel this way? I even follow the good players but I still get ridin like a horse. ummmmm I need a drink.

Yeah, this isn't an easy game. When I start losing consitently I pull everything out, take a deep breadth, and do the exact the opposite of whatever I WAS doing!

This week was very week, but generally if you are losing when "others" are claiming gains, Your strategy needs reworking.
I am not saying I don't "lose" on stocks, but heres how I figure it.
IF you purchased on some kind of news and it doesn't move the stock according to your entry strategy, Don't ride it down sell even at a small loss. ( I call this CONDITION CHANGED).
IF You bought and it has moved upward toward your strategy, Take half of it off the table @ halfway, & maybe another quarter along the way. NO stock can continue upwards forever so gauge how far to reasonable max you are and get out.
When I first started trading I figured to find 10 good stocks. I also keep track of ones I would rebuy so If I have money to invest will check them out first. I have several hundred companys I would rebuy, but don't own now. Nothing wrong with them, just making money on some others.

Been a pretty bloody week here (+ $81).

My first few months were pretty rough & I'm still learning. I kinda think this is a game where everyone's gotta pay their dues -- get bent over & take some losses.

Don't "chase" a stock up, and don't follow behind a bandwagon. Get burnt every time. Like Van said... find about 10 good ones and learn them.

I've noticed some of the craftiest in the biz trade the same thing over and over because they know how the stocks behave.

Good luck, JEG

Be patient with winning trades, be enormously impatient with losing trades.

Do more of that which is working and less of that which is not.

Dont chase, buy on the retrace

LEARN TA!

All week on the TV news and the radio news the BIG deal is about the SEC fixing the MM thing--here's how i see it right now--

THe MM's are there to provide US a service WE need. They have also been acting as DAYTRADERS against US. This is ending right now--it is painful for them, but it has to end cuz the economy sux. Fearless Leaders Dad lost his re-election on the ECONOMY STUPID remember?--It's been a little slow but the timing is looking to be right on for a BIG FREAKING YEAR--protect your capital--it's gonna be a GREAT XMAS in 2004---just stay in the game and pay attention to the details--learn from your mistakes--learn from your success--LAUGH when you feel like crying--we all do sometimes(well, maybe alot)--ITS going to be just fine--take a loss and don't look back---get in on Dogs program---he's a great teacher--read PG and figure out what she is doing to find the TRUTH--its out there--LOL
PG is an INVESTOR--she may daytrade but she doesn't talk about it.
Mullet is an INVESTOR--he buys REAL estate with his winnings here---

Randy don't you worry man, I had a RED AS RED CAN GET week too...I've said it many times on the boards today, lol... mostly just venting cause this week sure has not been good for my cause.

I need to refine my strategy and sets of rules too, I can't wait till I get to the point of not having to worry about the small commission fees getting in my way, but right now I do...so it's tough to sell at a small loss and not think much about it .

Anyways, this next week will be much better I'm sure!

WHAT I HEAR
Is everyone needs to trade with a "PLAN". The plan can be tweaked for success. Maybe we could start a thread of HOW TO do a plan for newbies?

Yeah not a good couple of weeks for me either and I'm a newbie also, I think I'll try this way. I'll open another account for my wife and she can sell what I buy and buy what I sell that way at least she can make money. After the way my picks went this week I think everyone should just do whatever I don't.

Pick a handfull of stocks, track their pattern, then play the highs and lows. This works for all stocks be they big board, nasdaq, whatever. The only difference with the micros is they seem to touch their highs & lows at least once a week where the pricier stocks might take weeks or months to do the same. If Uncle Milty is still around (and I don't think he is) ask him, he is the master at this. He calls it "beta plays" and he is the best at it, buying on the dips, selling on the spikes.

VAN,

Your idea about a thread for teaching newbies is right on the money. Lord knows I need some teaching and I would greatly appreciate it as I'm sure the other newbies would be also.

It's people like you who make this board the best around. People in here really want to help other people. I know when I'm a seasoned veteran at this game, I will be more than happy to pass on my knowledge as you guys have passed on your knowledge to us.

Thanks,
Brian

he may not be able to type, but so far, he's the only poster i've seen in a long time that uses the proper "patience" (at least he tried to), instead of "patients" (those are what doctors have). LOL

Usually I try to respond to a question. When a good question is posed a lot of the guys will give you several sides to it. You can then ( and you must)decide how it applies to you. I recommend that you not buy or sell from recommedations on this board. rather glean why people are doing what thier doing and then apply to your situation. In this manner you take responsibility for your activity. It is so easy to follow the crowd and lose , and then "blame" the board for the result. Better to decide, then act, and take the credit if you are right, or lose and learn from it.
