How would everyone feel about a new feature at allstocks that allowed one to private message someone, similar to an email, but it would be stored at allstocks? just click the "instant message" link next to someones name and send them a private message. It works well on other message boards and it would prevent a lot of useless posts asking for someones email or from people having to post theirs. also it would prevent people from having to ask a lot of personal questions directed to one person in front of everyone.
Just a thought. I'll email allstocks admin if I can find a contact. I'd like to hear your opinions on this if you have any.

Private Messages are actually a standard feature on most message boards. I'm throwing out a guess that Infopop's board system(at least this version) does not have this, else it would have probably been enabled a long time ago.

so what are you saying? is this an issue that is planned to never be resolved? Im just curious, because if it is, than i'll drop it. If not, i think we should continue to work on getting here on this board. it makes things so much easier. who would i talk to about implementing this feature?

It probably is not implemented on the actual Infopop system, which is the BB system you are typing on right now. Getting in and messing with the PHP or HTML of a system like this can get very tedious, lol especially to add an IM feature.
Unless Allstocks is planning on using another BB system, we won't be seeing IM's .
VBulletin or phpBB (which is free) are both really good BB's.

If I remember correctly this feature if enabled would use precious storage space. Maybe this is why it is disabled? At least this is the case for vBulletin, my choice of cookie cutter bulletin boards. -

EH--you and i started here about the same time--I left the micro board for quite awhile after observing the situation that caused them (I assume) to remove the e-mails--my guess is that there was a good reason--

yeah i guess they just don't want to spend the extra $$ for it. oh well, it was just a thought. too bad all boards aren't like the HSM board. that is by far my favorite board as far as interface and features goes.
