NeoMedia Settles With AirClic, Pays Off Loan to Free Patents From Security Agreement

Monday , December 08, 2003 13:05 ET

FT. MYERS, Fla., Dec 08, 2003 (PRIMEZONE via COMTEX) -- NeoMedia Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:NEOM), a developer and international marketer of software and patented technologies which link products, print, and physical objects directly to targeted online data, said today it has settled with AirClic Inc. of Newtown, Pennsylvania by paying off an outstanding loan and withdrawing its countersuit to free its patents from the AirClic Security agreement.

NeoMedia and AirClic, then of Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, entered into a Secured Promissory Note in July of 2001, under which AirClic agreed to loan NeoMedia $2 million in several installed payments. Of that agreed-to total sum, only $500,000 was loaned by AirClic to NeoMedia.

Charles T. Jensen, NeoMedia's president, COO and acting CEO, said the agreement was "finally executed by AirClic on Friday, December 5th.

"Now, at last" said Jensen, "NeoMedia's patents are free from this security agreement. We are absolutely delighted to have this behind us."

According to the terms of the Mutual Release and Settlement Agreement, AirClic "forever releases and forever discharges NeoMedia, its parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, successors and assigns, from each and every right, claim, debt, demand, liability, costs, expense and cause of action whatsoever, whether known or unknown, pending or potential, of any kind or nature arising out of or relating to the LOI, the Note, the Security Agreement, and any and all claims that were alleged or could have been alleged in the Suit, and acknowledges that the payment of the Settlement Amount satisfies the debt due and owing under the Note and the Security Agreement."

"This year has been both exciting and a turning point for NeoMedia," said Jensen. "New markets have opened for our leading edge technology in a wide range of industries, including automotive, cellular telephones, chemicals, international security and pharmaceuticals, we have completed our first acquisition, and have another where the due diligence process is ongoing.

"With this finally behind us," said Jensen, "we can now focus all our energies and efforts on marketing our patented PaperClick(tm) technology products and platform in these and other emerging and receptive markets."

Closed very strong. This could run some more tomorrow. I may regret never getting into this one (unless my PGHI does what I think its going to do!).

I know you've recommended this one many times Milty....I've been watching it a long time. Just never seemed ready to make a buy. I'll keep watching it, and hopefully the stars will line up and I'll have freed up cash at the right time!

You know I'm on the PGHI wagon. Also made money on the last little FNIX run. Hope to buy back into FNIX soon before it runs again.

Raven....good pickup. I agree that you will make some green. FNIX really hit me yesterday as being in the buy range...I think it was .54 or .55?

Finally in NEOM today at .14 with 10K shares.

Still hoping to see FNIX drop below .50 for my next buy in. Looking at today's chart, I'm not sure it will get there.

NeoMedia's New Wireless Application Now Running on Nokia Camera Cell Phones
Monday December 22, 8:30 am ET

FT. MYERS, Fla., Dec. 22, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- NeoMedia Technologies, Inc. (OTC BB:NEOM.OB - News), announced today that the first working units of its new PaperClick for Camera Cell Phones(tm) for the Nokia(r) 3650 and 3660 camera phones are now available.

What Nokia Camera Cell Phones Do with PaperClick

``With the power of PaperClick for Cell Phones, information retrieval is truly wireless,'' said Chas Fritz, NeoMedia's chairman. ``By taking a picture of a UPC or EAN bar code, you can display data on the screens of the Nokia 3650 or 3660 camera phones anywhere, anytime.

``Right now,'' said Fritz, ``we've activated a few UPC and EAN product codes for demo purposes, making it possible to take a picture of the code on a product, such as a can or bottle of soda, and then go right to the targeted Web site.

As part of the demo, users will also be able to do comparison shopping with PaperClick for Cell Phones. For example, they could take a picture of the ISBN (for International Standard Book Numbers) code on virtually any book to link automatically via the Internet to a Web site displaying an image of the book and its price elsewhere.

Patented PaperClick Technology

NeoMedia's patented PaperClick(tm) technology allows barcodes and other machine-readable identifiers to be directly linked to Web pages and other information sources, and runs on Windows(r)-based PCs and the Palm Pilot(r) PDA.

PaperClick for Camera Phones was developed and patented by NeoMedia as an extension of its PaperClick platform. It employs a standard browser, client software, and a network of online service and applications servers transparent to users, who simply take a picture with the phone for an automatic link to tailored on-line Web information. PaperClick For Cell Phones installs via the phone's infra red (IrDA) port, the BlueTooth(r) wireless network, or download.

Who Can Get One/How Can I Get One

A limited quantity is available to IT and wireless industry research analysts, consumer products brand managers, and potential partners. Information is available from (630) 435-9200, X122, or by e-mailing info1@paperclick.com. Along with free PaperClick for Cell Phones software, the system requires a Nokia 3650 or 3660 camera cell phone with a Nokia CC-49 macro lens and Internet/Web-enablement.
