I spent 45 minutes this morning ing through the history of this stock, how a tiny company was able to acquire over a million acres of oil sand and shale property, larger that the state of
Rhode Island and what the property was worth but after all that, when I tried to post it I got a message saying that I had not logged in and the stupid site erased everything that I had written. It was nowhere to be found. I had to leave, but I can now give a synopsis of why this stock is moving. The company was able to acquire the land dirt cheap because that is what it was thought of at the time. It was located in a remote area. There were no roads leading to the property and even if you built a road, it would pass through an area in Canada that was part of a wild life migration path for moose and I think some other species, and so for part of the year the road leading to the properties would be closed. Also, oil was near a multiyear low, and considering its remote location, and that it would only be open for part of the year, the cost of extracting the bitumen (oil the consistancy of honey, that doesn't flow at the temperatures encountered in Canada and so requiring facilities to upgrade it to free flowing oil) was more expensive than what you could get for the oil. For this part of Canada, it would cost somewhat more than $25 to extract and upgrade the bitumen to oil. Oil back then was going for less than $25/barrel. Now it is over $65 and probably going higher. A small part of the land had cores drilled in the 1970's and all the cores showed the same percentage of bitmen to sand. Thus you could estimate the amount of bitumen just by knowing how thick the layer was. Of course, officially you would have to wait for the results of the core evaluaton. Along with the cores other explorations indicated that there could be 4 BILLION to 12 BILLION barrels of oil equivalent in the property. But to extract it you would have to build expensive facilities to upgrade it and it would take years to build these facilities. But once built you would have Billions of barrels of oil that you could start extracting. If you compare the number of shares to the amount of bitumen and compare it to companies that have already built their infrastructures and are selling the oil from their lands, then the price of CWPC should be worth as much as $250 or even much more per share. Back when the price was .25 people thought that it was rediculous to even think that it would one day be worth $2.50/share. Well it has blown through that price. $25/share is the next target and now even $250/share doesn't look that rediculous. The company has just started a 25 core drilling project and with what they discover, they will decide where to do a follow up 125 cores. They have over 15 million dollars with which to do the exploration. At the start of last year the stocks price was .25 Last week it was around $2.50 Then near the close of last Friday they announced the preliminary results of the first core sample. It was thicker than expected and the stocks price shot up because that could indicate that the amount of oil on the properties might be closer to 14 billion barrels instead of 6 billion barrels. Or even higher. It takes a few days to get a core sample and if the next one and the others show a thicker than expected bitumen layer, especially if it gets thicker the further you move out from the previous drills done in the 1970's then the price could really start moving upward. Some other things to take into account. The company applied for listing on a major US board last week. They were told that it would take one month to several months before they would know if it had been approved. If it is, then major institutions can start buying the stock, especially if it is over $5. Also the stock symbol used to be URMP, the U stood for uranium, because they had some uranium properties that they were going to explore. Instead they decided to concentrate on the oil sand properties which are located in Western Canada and so changed their name to Canwest Petroleum to stand for western Canada. I don't know if they have sold their uranium properties, but if not, they might lease them out to another company to develope them or they might spin them off and form a separate uranium mining company. Also their oil sand property has high amounts of titanium, but it can't be extracted because of the bitumen, but once they extract the bitumen they can mine the titanium, or form a joint venture with another company that speciallizes in titanium mining. There is a large Indian company that specifically mines titanium sands, they are loaded with cash and this would be a good fit. So CWPC not only has piles of oil, it also may still have its uranium properties, and it certainly has its titanium which, along with other metals is climbing in price. So to answer your question, people in the know may be seeing good results from the newest cores and may be buying the stock. By the way, in the last two weeks, 15% of the stock has changed hands, and if it is insiders that are buying it, they are probably not going to sell it and so the float available for the public may be getting signicantly smaller. Here are some earlier posts that I made on greater than .10 board, which I guess has been replace by this one. I'm also including some recent posts from other boards.

Very impressive site pictures- These pictures, from the Oilsands Quest web-site, show; that they were not wasting their time; while we were waiting for that first drill to hit the ground.
From the price action this morning, it appears that there are leaks of great results, from more drill cores at Firebag East. We are in for some very exciting times, folks.

From the Old Timer...

This stock is revealing that they already have hit
something of substantial magnitude to be this strong.
Someone is buying up all they can get loose from naive
investors who get scared at the slightest dip.
ADVICE: go take a break and come back on the first
of the month if you are so nervous you want to sell.

By that time the recent drill testing program should
show some good results that reveal the source of the
stock action.

Well it looks like you are going to be rich a lot quicker that you anticipated. I'm starting to think that we will be going through $20 this year like a hot knife through soft butter. Might take a little longer than that. Nice to have gotten in at .25, but for even the people that have just found this stock and buy in here at this price range, they are going to make a lot of lot of money. I would think that they would be able to buy a very expensive steak dinner with the money they make. Maybe even two steak dinners. (I think big.) Hey, steaks expensive.

Started talking about this stock when it was $.25 Hope some people bought then. Then again when it reached $2 range. Company acquired a huge oil sands and oil shale property years ago in what was then an out of the way area in Canada which nobody wanted at the time. But it had indications of having tens of billions of barrels of bitumen which could be refined into oil. As they worked on upgrading, exploring the property people started to think that they might actually have a money making property. Last week they applied to be listed on a major American market because they now meet all the requirements. They were told that the acceptance will take from one to three, possibly more months. If accepted, major institutions will be able to invest in their company. By last Monday the stock had reached the $2.50 area. If their property actually has tens of billions of oil equivalent, then compairing their company to similar companies, but ones that have the facilities built that can mine and convert the bitumen, then their share price should be well above $100, possibly/probably several hundred dollars a share. Of course it will take years and millions of dollars to build the needed facilities, but still considering their low price, people were thinking, their must be something wrong or their price would be higher. They must not have the bitumen that the preliminary evaluations indicate. Well late Friday the results of the first of 150 core samples of their property was announced and it showed a much thicker layer of bitumen than had even been estimated. The stock in the last hour of trading started moving straight up and closed at $3.62. Early next week should hit $4/share. That may seem like a steep price to buy. Most people like to buy less expensive stocks, but if they reach $400/share down the road, that will be a 100 bagger, and don't forget that they may/probably have tens of billions of oil equivalents on their property. Here were two of my earlier posts. If you had bought in at .35 (it stayed in the .25/.35 area for quite awhile) then you would already have a 10 bagger. If you buy in now at $4/share, possibly may be able to get in lower for awhile, then at $40 you will have a 10 bagger and it should hit $80 in a year or a few years and go on from their. So you might want to buy at least a few shares next week.

CWPC.BB Canwest Petroleum (Their property is in the west part of Canada) Closed Friday at $3.62. Spent the week in the mid $2 range but near the end of trading on Friday they reported the preliminary findings of the first of 150 cores they are drilling on part of their property and it was better than expected. The layer of bitumen (thick oil similar in color and texture to syruip that surrounds the oil sands) was much larger than cores that were drilled 400 yards away in the 1970's and those cores from the 1970's were felt to be outstanding. So it was concluded that the amount of bitumen was getting greater as you move out from the previously tested area. This means that they could have a lot more bitumen (oil) than was earlier estimated. The stock turned straight up during the last hour of trading and traded over 5 million shares, about 5 times its normal volume. Over 5% of its outstanding shares traded hands. Price over the last year has been stair stepping upward. Moves up as new information becomes available, stabilizes, even backs off some, moves up to a new higher level etc. Recently they received $22,500,000 from a group of institutional investers. Interestingly, it was oversubscribed. More institutions wanted to subscribe to the offering but it was already sold out.
