ECPN El Capitan Precious Metals is going to have a 3 for 1 Forward slit (ie 200% stock dividend) to people that own the stock on Jul 30th ... Unlike a reverse split, a forward split is usually good, because not only do you end up with more shares (even though the price goes down = to the ratio of the split.) But people are used to the stock being at a higher price and so it tends to go back up toward the price at which it used to trade. I've sold some of my other stocks and will buy some shares of ECPN in the morning (Friday July 30th) and see what happens.

Hey, New user here...signed up cause I wanted to ask you about ECPN. I found it during my CMKX/UCAD research and it looked like good things are happening...so I dropped a few dollars on it.
So, couple questions: 1. How'd you find it and what are your thoughts?
2. Have you been credited with your 3 for 1 shares yet? I haven't...I'm using Qtrade.

I read about ECPN (now ECPNE)in a news article about another stock. The 200% forward split sounded interesting because I have noticed that other stocks that have forward splits, tend to move back towards their original price after the split, possibly because people are used to seeing them at a higher price and think that the new low price is a bargain. I bought it at .60. After the split my account showed that I had 3 times my original # of shares, but that they were now only worth .20. Since then the price, after a small bounce downward, has moved up and now it is back to my original buy in price of .60, but with me owning 3x the # of shares. Darn, I should have bought more.

Hey SG, Thanks for getting back to me on this. I might have hung on instead of selling out at .45 but didn't have any idea it would go so good (high of .71 today!!)! If it goes this good without news, I might buy some more if it drops back the .2 mark...then do a wait-and-see.
One stock doing a 4:1 F/S is AVWF...record date of September 7th. Gonna try that one too as it looks good (from my limited knowledge).

CJEWingnut, I'm also out. I was starting to get a nose bleed at these lofty levels. By the way, I use Ameritrade and I was credited with the new shares when trading started the day after the split. AVWF sounds interesting. I've noticed that some stocks after a forward split, dip a bit, and then start upwards. Others start upward the day of the split, but either way most seem to go up, some more than others. AVWF started trading Jul 2003 at around .50 and its back to that point again. Was at $4 from Nov '03 to Feb '04 and then started edging down. The 200 day moving average is 2.55 and the 50 day is .85. According to a site that evaluates candlestick charting, they may be getting ready to start moving up. They have ~ 21.2 million shares and a 4:1 split will bring it up to 84.6 million shares outstanding according to one of the company PR's. The stock closed at .48 today, so after the split, at this price, it would be priced at .12 They are involved in getting companies to use infomercials. They have an interesting idea and it could be worth money. People are used to seeing their price as hagh as $4/share and so .12 will look like a bargain. I'm going to buy some before the date of the split and see what happens. If it works out, I am going to see if there is some service, such as Global Communications that can alert me to companies that are planning forward splits.

FYI...I got in yesterday at .475 as it was pretty close to its 52-week low...not likely it would go any lower with a forward-split announcement (in my opinion). Hopefully, like most forward splits I've monitored/took part in, the price runs up until the record date. So, a guy can sell for the profit then or after the split when the new price runs up...

This morning the price was .43, I put in a bid for .44, price went up to .44 with bid/ask .43/.48. No fill. Tried .45, .46, .47, .48 no fill with bid/ask still .43/.48, finally with 10 minutes left got it filled at .48 If I understand it correctly, it means that for every share that you own, you will get 4 more and so you will end up with 5 shares instead of one. That means that at a price of .48 today, it should be at .096 tomorrow (.096 x5 = .48) Should be interesting to see what the stock does tomorrow. If it acks like ECPN, it may drop to the .09-.08 level in the next few days and then start climbing. If it goes back to .48/.50 range that = 500% increase, if it went back up to $2, that would be a 2,000% increase. However, even .50 would be very nice

I think the 4/1 means that your one share turns to 4. I don't think you will get an ADDITIONAL 4 shares. I could be wrong though. 5 would be nice! Is this stock really expected to go back to $.50? i really don't think I have the will to last that long. If I can make a little chunk of change like 20% thats good enough for me...lets hope for the best. Looks like a solid company though.

I doubt that it will go back to .50, but I didn't think that ECPN would go back to .60 after opening at .20, but it went right through it to .72. I'll just play this by ear. But I have looked at other charts of stocks that had forward splits and all the ones that I looked at went up at least 20% and some a lot lot more.

Right...here's my 3:1 ECPN account transactions(NEWEST ON TOP); Received 1,000 ECPN EL CAPITAN PRECIOUS METAL Buy 500 ECPN EL CAPITAN PRECIOUS METAL
Easy way to keep track is to multiply your shares by the split numer (or divide your shares by the split number if it's a reverse split).
