Millennium Cell and Horizon Fuel Cell Provide Detailed Plans for HydroPak(TM) Portable Power Product

Latest Version to be Shown at CES and Tactical Power Source Conferences in January 2008

Major OEMs, Retailers and Distributors to Receive Samples in February

UL Certification Process Initiated, Customer Shipments Targeted for Q3

Millennium Cell Inc. (NASDAQ:MCEL) and Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies announced today the completion of a pre-production version of the HydroPak™ portable power generator that incorporates a unique water-activated cartridge system. The HydroPak™ product combines Horizon’s fuel cells with Millennium Cell’s Hydrogen on Demand® storage technology to offer a clean and quiet power generator for use by consumers and professionals for emergency and recreational purposes.

This power source is a high energy alternative to lead acid battery packs and portable generators. The HydroPak™ system, together with each cartridge:

* Provides infinite shelf life and enough energy to recharge an average notebook computer 8 to 10 times
* Can run indoors with quiet operation and zero harmful emissions
* Is quieter, lighter and smaller than generators
* Stores more energy than possible with batteries
* Has a lower cost than any similar fuel cell device

The HydroPak™ will debut at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) at the Las Vegas Convention Center in South 1, Booth #21850H from Jan. 7-10. The system will also be shown to the U.S. military at the Tactical Power Sources Summit 2008 at the Georgetown University Conference Center in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 29-30. These conferences are the first venues where potential users and distributors can see HydroPak™ emergency power products publicly in the United States.

The HydroPak™ is designed with a common AC outlet and two USB connectors to charge or operate low power devices such as portable lights, notebook computers, portable televisions and ad hoc communications networks for more than 14 continuous hours when needed. The planned retail pricing of $400 for the system and $20 for the disposable cartridges will make this solution attractive to both professionals responding to emergencies, as well as consumers desiring power for both backup and recreational needs.

Beginning in February 2008, Horizon and Millennium Cell plan to demonstrate and sample limited numbers of the current pre-production unit to OEM’s, distributors, and key military decision makers. The current design of the unit is in the process of evaluation by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and it is expected that listing will be received by mid 2008 on this product. Subsequently, several thousand units will be manufactured by Horizon for sale in the second half of 2008. Millennium Cell will have sole responsibility for all sales of the HydroPak™ power generation system in the United States.

Additional products have been identified for development and are expected to be shipped to commercial and government customers for evaluation in 2008 and 2009. A HydroPak Mini™ product prototype for use in consumer devices such as cell phones, PDA’s and portable media players will also be demonstrated for the first time at the conferences in January. The objective of showing this unit is to gauge interest for a less expensive, smaller power source with unlimited shelf life and silent power for smaller portable communications and electronics devices.

“We are excited about the prospects for the HydroPak™ line of products, beginning with the commercialization of the first water-activated portable power system in 2008 and followed shortly by others in 2009. We believe that these fuel cell power products possess a potent combination of convenience, performance and economics that are unique in the marketplace and will fill a void that exists today,” commented George Gu, CEO of Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies.

In October, the two companies signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to collaboratively develop, market, and sell certain portable fuel cell power products. The partnership is aimed at launching a number of commercial and consumer products that combine Horizon’s commercial grade fuel cells with hydrogen cartridges developed by Millennium Cell. Definitive documentation that amends the August 2007 license agreement between Horizon and Millennium Cell to reflect the terms of the LOI is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2008.

“Millennium Cell considers the HydroPak™ product line as a cornerstone in our product strategy and we are dedicating significant resources to support product introduction into the marketplace beginning in 2008. The initial reaction from OEM’s and potential distributors for this product has been very positive and we plan to generate our first commercial revenues through aggressively marketing and selling this innovative family of products,” commented Adam Briggs, President of Millennium Cell.

Millennium Cell to Test New Product in Columbia, S.C. with Support from the University of South Carolina and City of Columbia

Test Units to Provide Emergency Lighting and Portable Device Recharging

Millennium Cell Subsidiary Establishes Operations at University of South Carolina’s Incubation Center at Innovista in Columbia, S.C.

Millennium Cell Inc. (NASDAQ: MCEL), a leading developer of hydrogen battery technology, today received confirmation of an award for a test market of its LED light and device charger. The award is part of phase II of the Greater Columbia Fuel Cell Challenge, sponsored by the USC Columbia Fuel Cell Collaborative, to perform a market test of an LED light and device charger, designed and manufactured by Millennium Cell. Gecko Energy Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Millennium Cell, will market test the product, which uses Millennium Cell’s PowerSkin™ fuel cells and Hydrogen on Demand® fuel system to provide long lasting power to small, portable lighting and to simultaneously charge portable devices like cell phones and PDA’s. The design of this particular product concept was the result of extensive market research, including product concept validation at the Governor’s Hurricane Conference in Florida in 2007 and numerous discussions with key first responders and emergency power product distributors.

Millennium Cell will establish operations for this market test at the University of South Carolina’s technology incubator and will eventually transition into Innovista and evaluation will be conducted with assistance from the City of Columbia, USC School of Business and Greenway Energy LLC. Gecko’s long-term opportunities involve establishing manufacturing operations, product roll-out and workforce expansion in South Carolina to develop and manufacture PowerSkin™ fuel cell products. This effort will involve cooperation from several South Carolina agencies, including the South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership, the South Carolina Research Authority (SCRA), Central SC Alliance and the University of South Carolina as it is a key step towards the commercialization of PowerSkin™ fuel cell based products. Gecko will use the data collected from the testing as basis for launching its product in 2009. Initially, Gecko will employ several employees in Columbia, S.C. with potential for future job growth as manufacturing and production expand.

“We are very pleased to establish a base of operations for the commercialization of Gecko products in Columbia and to receive support from the city and a number of South Carolina agencies to conduct this market test,” said Adam Briggs, president of Millennium Cell. He further explained, “The State of South Carolina has been visionary in its support for development and launch of hydrogen fuel cell products through their commitment to developing a knowledge based economy state wide. We are excited to get the opportunity to work with first responders and other emergency workers and to get their views on how best to serve these markets with our technology.”

Dr. Harris Pastides, vice president for research and health sciences at the University of South Carolina, expressed how this project is a great opportunity for South Carolina’s growing hydrogen economy. “Millennium Cell had an opportunity to grow their business anywhere in the country,” said Pastides. “They chose Innovista and Columbia because we have a critical mass of scientific talent and an outstanding partnership between the University, the city and our counties, EngenuitySC, SC Launch and other partners. My hope is that one day South Carolina will be home to the nation's hydrogen economy and that this small step forward will be looked at as a most memorable event.”

Bill Mahoney, SCRA CEO and member of the Greater Columbia Fuel Cell Challenge executive committee, echoed support of this project. "This project demonstrates how successful partnerships among South Carolina's research universities, local stakeholders and private industry can create positive outcomes in growing our state's knowledge economy. We are happy to be able to support Millennium Cell and Gecko both in executing this project and in facilitating their future business operations here in South Carolina.”

“Our City is pleased to continue our leadership in the establishment of a knowledge based economy through hydrogen fuel cells,” said Robert Coble, Mayor of Columbia. “Millennium Cell is a recognized leader in the portable fuel cell arena, and we are excited to help them in their efforts to expand their Gecko subsidiary in South Carolina and commercialize fuel cell products, which not only will bring exciting new products to our citizens but future job growth as well.”

Here's what another forum member (from my other forum participation) wrote in the MCEL thread:

quote:
i got better news even.
i checked out the yahoo mcel forum page and it is getting busy over there.
now people are happy and i see many more of them saying that mcel is a strong buy.
here is a post i found that made me way more happy for monday to come.
read the dell page the guy has a link for.
this would make this stock in the dollars with a s, plural real quick.

MCEL and DELL 23-Feb-08 05:20 pm MCEL-Dell partnership makes sense due to the progression of events since this time last year. MCEL and Dell are probably working together to develop a hydrogen laptop battery for Dell laptops. I believe it's inevitable considering MCEL's closely guarded development in this area. Look for a planar fuel cell embedded into the back of the screen using Gecko PowerSkin technology. MCEL has a Dell laptop in most of its laptop power presentations, and it had already posted Dell's name as a partner about a year ago in a presentation that was corrected. I'll bet you that we hear in this CC - at least - about Dell and MCEL working together, or even better a timeline for production of the HOD laptop. Dell is making progress in the green energy and innovation areas. Also, on a related note and not quite so supportive of hydrogen (coming from the general public(, take a look at this interesting thread on Dell's IDEASTORM board:
http://www.ideastorm.com/article/show/62...

Sentiment : Strong Buy

And yet another post:
