I sure hope so, because this little so-called tropical depression is turning into one nasty Hurricane.

Severe shortage of repair materials and contractors to do the work, announced earlier by Jeb Bush.

Why should insurance companies cover people who live in hurricane zones or tornado alleys? Those idiots think they have a RIGHT to insurance... WRONG. If you choose to put your home in peril, you should fir the bill to rebuild. Don't like it? Move inland.

Hey, found some common ground repo!
Multi-Million dollar homes built right on the beach in danger zones should not be paid for by the rest of us, because of higher rates.

Hi all, I was just reading a few of the threads, and wanted to offer a bit about the hurricane insurance. I live in a very susceptible area for it - not on the beach, but close enough that I see action frequently. Hurricanes often get alot of hype, but they are really just one areas "plight" of natural disasters...out west it is hurricanes, midwest it is tornados or floods, east/NE its blizzards.

Anyway, I also wanted to point out that I tend to agree with you about the coastal insurance - if you buy on the beach, expect it to wash away...however, everyone, even the people living 1-2 hours north of the coast pay a much larger premium than the rest of the world. The companies have large payouts, but add up the signicantly higher deductibles they charge for hurricane related claims, and add in the additional premiums. I guarantee you, I pay a LOT more than I ever cash out - and I have had THREE hurricanes, including Katrina, hit my area in the last two years.

Food for thought....
