Do not have a clue, Doniboy. Never looked at this one before. I am going to read up a bit on it, if anything to learn what is causing such wild price swings.
"Strata's Peace River oil sands leases cover more than 26,000 acres and are located directly to the southwest of Blackrock's Seal project. Blackrock was just purchased by Shell Canada in a friendly $2.4 billion cash offer."
That is news earlier in May. Now sure this would have an effect now. Looks a bit like insiders have some information not released to the public.

Oh no! Price is beyond my range. I stick to under 2.00 stocks.
However, if I had a crystal ball and saw this coming, I would be dumping tons of money in.
Based purely on charts, I think 6.25 - 6.35 is about as high as this one will go, for now.
Not sure so do not be swayed by my opinion. For all I know this one could keep going up! A bit of concern, though, not being able to explain what is causing this sudden skyrocket.

Doniboy, here is the foreign equal to a SEC 10Q filing for SOIGF. I did not read anything in there which explains this skyrocket; no revenues and high expenses / losses.
Events like this are very tempting. However, not being able to explain an event indicates risks are very high. I am too conservative to take a chance on an event this odd.

OK, I think I know what happened. Some big Momentum player called this one. Lucifer is his name. I read his Web Page and he tried to call it yesterday at $4.00 but gave the wrong ticker symbol. So some people got in when they figured out the correct symbol. However, some couldn't figure it out so they couldn't get in until today.
Beware of this one if the big daytraders are in.

God No, I'm a New Englander, we kicked England's ass a few hundred years ago. I was just trying to be delicate about it. I just never met a chick who knows how to read Corporate financials and yet posts nude pictues of herself on the Web.

Did someone noticed the after hours trading on this stock? Institutions or some big investors seems to be buying big time! I wonder what's the coming news...

Yeah.. I guess. Seems like some good news is coming from their last PR. The way the major oil is dumping their money into the Canadian Oil Sands, they seem to be at a pretty good position to receive some offers.
Shell took over BlackRock Ventures for C$2.4 Billion, which owns 81,000 net acres of land at Peace River. Blackrock has only about 22 employees, but is already in production phase with C$59.4M revenues last quarter, C$3M net. They have 95 mil basic shares and 109 mil diluted shares.
SOGIF owns 26,000 acres at Peace River and is in exploration phase, but it's directly southwest of the other Blackrock's property. They have only 21.8 mil shares out and 14.2 mil float.

They were also able to have Mr. Barndollar to be on their Board of Directors since last October, who served as Chief Geophysicist and Exploration Portfolio Manager for Devon Energy.

That is my guess, as well, Newbie. I cannot find anything else which supports this speculation. Appears traders are betting on future discoveries and future revenue through those mineral rights.
I will caution you to jump out on the first hint of falling prices. Odds are good prices will fall as fast as prices went up.
Above five dollars per share, you should be able to set stop loss orders through your broker. I urge you to use stop losses, not just one, but a series to be sure your stop loss sell orders are not entirely skipped over.
There is a risk of prices being manipulated downward to trigger stop losses, then followed by running prices back up. Keep a close eye. My personal opinion is set stop losses and pay good attention. You can always buy back in if prices appear to be running upward again.
