THE FIGHT NETWORK PRESENTS CORRALES VS CASTILLO 3 ON PPV IN CANADA JUNE 3RD
TORONTO, ONTARIO,---- 05/29/2006 -- The Fight Network Inc. announced today that it has secured the rights to present Showtime Championship’s Boxing’s Diego Corrales vs. Jose Luis Castillo 3 on Pay-Per-View in Canada, Saturday June 3rd on Viewers Choice as part of Fight Network, “Fight Night PPV Series.” Fight Network will also air on its own channel Corrales vs. Castillo 1 and 2 leading up to the third encounter between these formidable rivals set for June 3rd.
“Boxing fans around the world know this fight is going to be something special, said Brian Sobie Sr. VP of Programming for The Fight Network. “Which is why we are very excited to be the ones to deliver this epic trilogy exclusively in Canada in what promises to be a can’t miss event.”
Fight Network will air Corrales vs. Castillos 1 and 2 during prime time daily from Monday May 29th to Saturday June 3rd as a prelude to the live Pay-Per-View Presentation of Corrales vs. Castaillo III live on June 3rd at 9:00 PM Eastern. The first battle between these two has been called the greatest fight of the last fifty years. It was an epic battle with copious amounts of both brutality and skill. The second, while shorter, was equally as exciting.
The Fight Network will also be sending a full crew to Las Vegas to cover all the pre and post-fight news as well. Ryan Bennett will be joined by Doug Fischer and Steve Kim from maxboxing.com for a pre-fight show that will air Friday night and all day Saturday leading up to the pay-per-view.
Then on Saturday June 3rd at 9:00 PM Eastern the world's most talented and courageous lightweights will collide in their eagerly awaited rubber match for Corrales' World Boxing Council (WBC) title at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Fight Network is presenting Showtime Championship Boxing featuring Corrales vs. Castillos available in Canada on Viewers Choice Pay. The event is priced in Canada at $24.99
After the event The Fight Network’s coverage of this historic rivalry will continue with Ryan, Doug and Steve’s post fight wrap show that will begin airing Sunday at 1:00 PM Eastern – only on The Fight Network.
Fighters History courtesy of Showtime Championship Boxing:
Diego “Chico” Corrales (40-3, 33 KOs) won the historic first bout against Castillo - and the near-unanimous 2005 Fight of the Year -- when he dramatically rallied from the brink of defeat to register a memorable 10th-round TKO to unify the title and capture the WBC lightweight belt on May 7, 2005.
Jose Luis Castillo (54-7-1, 47 KOs) won the brief, but brutal sequel on Oct. 8, also at Thomas & Mack, with an impressive and sudden fourth-round knockout. Despite losing the rematch, Corrales came away with both his world title belts because Castillo failed to make the 135-pound limit and one of his camp members was caught trying to tamper with the scale at the weigh-in.

Expansion plans
To date we have launched our services on most of the major carriers in Canada and a number of the smaller carriers. We anticipate by the end of 2006 that the remaining carriers will add TFN to their line-ups. In addition we have hired Trajectory Sports of New York to assist in getting us launched in the United States; the people from Trajectory are working very hard and we feel that it is only a matter of time before we lock down our first of many U.S. carriage deals. As well, we have had enquiries from several other countries around the world (Mexico, Panama, Australia, England, Ireland) which we are pursuing with the same conviction as North America.
