I watched Jim Cramer's Mad Money last night for the first time and it is hard to keep track of the stocks he picks and hates. Maybe we could keep an ongoing post on picks that are somewhat affordable, in the $5-10 range. He did mention one or two in that range. Any suggestions, ideas, etc.? Any imput would be appreciated.

If you'll watch it regularly, you'll discover that one reason he's called "mad" is that most of his "picks" last only days or over night and he's yelling they are loosers.....and vice versa. And, you are right, he very much prefers quite high priced stocks. Of those that he recommends regularly, Sears Holding, Google, Ebay, Yahoo, Whole Foods, etc., all except one, Lucent, is not way up there in price per share.

Never-the-less, he is fun to watch.....at least to me....not so depressing as the news, which he competes with in time.....not so insulting as "reality" shows....and not so immature as a "sitcom". And he does offer some excellent insight into the market and it's people.

How does he know what to say about the stocks during the lightning round? What kind of information do you think he pulls up on his 'puter so he can quickly determine to buy, sell or hold a stock? Just wondering...he seems to have an encyclopaedic mind...

If you dont get him on TV, you can probably catch him on AM radio (3-4PM Boston).
Today he picked in order of preference, based on lows and short squeeze capability.
1. CIEN- Ciena (Telecom)
2. COST- Costco-reports earnings tomorrow.
3. AMLN-
4. MLNM-Millenium Pharm. Diabetes Drug
5. TXCC- TransSwitch

Completely agree with bdgree... Only good pick I've actually seen him make is sticking with GOOG, and I guess SHLD has done all right since he started relentlessly pumping it. Regardless, Cramer changes his mind so often that it can get confusing - bullish on this, bearish on that, bullish on that, bearish on this.

His computer definitely has quite a bit of information...plus people typically call about the same stocks over and over and over again. If he doesn't really know anything about the company he just goes with his default "stick with best of breed" comment

What are some of his "best of breed" stocks...except for Google...a little expensive for my taste.

Also, the caption at the bottom of the TV during his ramblings about a certain stock mentions Jim's Charitable Trust. What is this Trust and how can we find out what stocks are on the "Trust" list?

He's on at 6pm then replayed at 9pm. He does not like speculative stocks(like most talked about on this board) and wont comment on them. He does geta lot of info out in hour thats for sure.

Cramer offers what he calls "two kinds" of picks....."trades" and "investments".

I do wish I had the amont funds to swing trade Cramers "trade" picks! And if did........

I'd hire someone else to tend the stuff and go fishing.

THIS GUY IS ABSOULUTELY NUTZ!!

He walks around the set - pacing like like he's expecting his wife to deliver at any moment - yelling at the top of his lungs...

A very entertaining show to say the least.

It is a rare type of television program, because it could easily be classified as "infotainment."

You may not agree with his take on certain things, but he does give legitimate reasons for his stance on various positions...

...most of the time.

My guess - due to the number of times that CNBC is running and rerunning each episode - is that this show is pulling better ratings than any other show that this network has.

Whatever...

HMMMM.....I didn't do that. It's just a copy of what That's Fact Up, Dude... said above it. I don't disagree with him. Indeed he is right on point, but I didn't post it again.
