BM to cut 10K-13K employees in restructuring effort (IBM) By Carla Mozee SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- International Business Machines (IBM) said after the closing bell Wednesday that it plans to reduce its worldwide workforce by 10,000 to 13,000 employees to accelerate the global integration of its operations. The company said the majority of the reductions will be in Europe. Some reductions will be on a voluntary basis, it said. IBM also said it expects to take a second-quarter, pretax charge of $1.3 billion to $1.7 billion and begin realizing benefits beginning in the second half of the year.
