Can someone tell me how this pre-market/after-market trading works? Or where to find info? How do you protect yourself from stocks that drop during these hours?

it works like trading.....buy and sell....

no pennies.

to protect yourself only own a stock between 9:30 and 4;30 est. time.

who are the traders during these time periods? or are these orders placed and filled when the market opens. i am not allowed to trade during these hours.
