good to know, heard it was only free to july, I have been trying to remove this spy for a few weeks, and this cleaned it in one try, its got me sold

I used to use pestpatrol, but got a trojan with the same name...I'm now using Microsoft's, but we can easily expect the same kind of thing in time (if it's used all over the place, someone will find a weakness and exploit it).

i loaded it, but i used Explorer, Mozilla didn't "get along" with the download process...
i suspect that MSFT may be doing this to get rid of pirateers. there are estimates that 90% of the OS's in Asia and specificially China are pirated....
so if MSFT didn't release THIS set of spyware that was bothering you? i bet that after they get enough people on this? there will be some spyware that shuts down PIRATED MSFT products released into the system...

Who, me? I have no problem with the software -- as you can see I said I'm using it. I'm just pointing out that it also means that down the road we'll all be more vulnerable to hacker attacks. What can we do about it? Not much.

as long as my crap is gone, it was search engine "just find it" and pop up engines that would knock out my explorer windows and java windows and leave me back at my iniatiall boot up point

i was just surfin the net tryin to find a free one,, i almost paid for one,, but my comp froze,,,, so i said the hell with it,,, came here to check out the scene,, and who would have thought i found a free one here at allstocks.com,,,, haha
SPY/ADWARE should be illegal,,,, and people should be shot for inventing such a pain in the arse device

You can also download Spybot search and destroy 1.3 .It's Freeware and has worked well for me.I've been using it for about 2 years.

I gotta hold of a "Test Script"or "Beta" some friends hooked me up with...anyway no spyware for 2 months now!!I couldn't believe it either,I used to get 10-20 a day.1 even from this site,nothing real harmful tho.

it was only free 'til July. good 'ol Bill recently decided to make it free for good.

hey anti-spyware is going to be big business in the near future. be sure to check out BCSI. they have a patent pending technology for fighting spyware.

Thanks for the link Keith. I used Spybot and Ad Aware SE Pro and then ran it and there were 44 items caught by the Microsoft version. It does get more than either of those. A valuable asset indeed!

Keithsan is right!! i have ad-aware,spybot,cw shreader,2005 norton. I was left at an intial start-up point,and thie microsoft spyware fixed it. Not to mention it found no less than 700 issues that the other 4 didnt. GRAB THE SOFTWARE it is truely awesome, and i am back on the information super highway! Thanks again Keithsan

did you run it in "safe mode"? to get there press F8 before the windows version screen comes up during startup. if it doesnt work the first time, try it again otherwise download some other anit-spyware software but ad-aware worked for me

The best I've seen out there is Spyware Dr. Even after running a scan of all the one's mentioned here and a few others I've got Spyware Dr finds more. Good Luck!
