Sirius Shares Fall on News of SEC Probe NEW YORK, Feb 22, 2005 (AP Online via COMTEX) --
Shares of Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. fell Tuesday after news came out over the weekend that a regular guest on Howard Stern's radio show would testify in a probe of trading in Sirius shares, which rose sharply last fall after Stern said he was signing a deal with the growing satellite radio company.
New York-based Sirius shares fell 28 cents, or nearly 5 percent, to $5.59 in midday trading Tuesday on the Nasdaq Stock Market. Financial markets were closed Monday for the Presidents Day holiday.
Chaunce Hayden said he received a subpoena last week ordering him to appear before investigators from the Securities and Exchange Commission in New York to discuss trading in Sirius shares.
Hayden, who writes gossip and celebrity news for Steppin' Out magazine, had publicly predicted that Stern would take his show to Sirius, making the comments about two weeks before Stern announced that he was doing so. Hayden said he never owned Sirius stock and based his prediction on his own reporting and not any inside information.
Patrick Reilly, a spokesman for Sirius, said: "We have no reason to believe this matter involves Sirius or any actions of its officers, directors or employees. Neither Sirius nor any of its officers, directors or employees have received a subpoena in this matter."

I do not think the SEC is trying to stop Stern from going to SIRI. They can not do that. They are looking into insider trading based on some sales that happened before he made the announcement that he was moving there. I do not think it was Howard though he is too smart for that. He is not a dumb blond like Martha.

My buddy bought into Sirius Radio a few months back hearing about Howard Stern working out a deal to broadcast through Sirius. Late last night the investigation was mentioned on the news.

i used to think he was funny, just out to find taboos, any taboos, and smash them. my feelings have since soured, but -
i heard a recording of stern's old radio show in NY, from gulf war 1, when the whole country was awash in yellow ribbons. Howard: "i took out a whole village o' nips and nobody gave Me a parade."
that's just one of his routines, the vet thing. he was never in nam. thought that was kind of funny. pretending to be a racist nam vet, jealous of the new pro-soldier attitude...

i don't know.. i think you gotta grow up in NY and/or with a lot of jews and italians, to have appreciated him even a little bit. (back when he actually was funny.) NY humor is very complex and very simple. like a great piece of pizza.. Seinfeld, for example is not a show about nothing. it's a tragicomedy about ppl who care about nothing but themselves. (xept kramer..)

i was active duty when howard was at DC101 FM, in wash dc... i flew home one night for shore leave, and there was a snowstorm which always disrupts DC, but i got in OK, next morning a jet leaves National airport for FLA without proper de-icing(they said later) and it didn't lift.. hit the 14th st bridge and crashed into the potomac.. the river was icy..there were some heroes, and a lot of tragedy...anyway howie called the booking agent (i think) for the airline and asked for tickets from national airport to the 14th st bridge...it got him fired, and IMO he never should have worked again...

I have SIRI radio. Had it for 2 years now. Live in cleveland and get Stern on 98.5. I tried listning to the jerk a few times. Turned off by his ranting about other DJ's.
As far as SIRI goes I think it sucks too.
They say comercial free music. Hogwash...
Between most every song they promote themselves such as new shows on other channels and also bands new cd's and concert tours.
There needs to be a class action lawsuit to get them to play real comercial free music.
Just my opinions...
And yes I am short the stock at the moment.
