Can I receive the dividend or not if I buy this stock on the same day with cash record.. How much will I gain after tax for example: $1/share? Can I receive the dividend or not if I sell this stock after the date of cash record? I am very confuse about it. Someone can help me. I am new one. Thank.

Well since you didn't tell us what stock you are talking about or what on the same day means it's hard to give you an answer but I think what your asking is if you buy a stock that is giving a dividend on the day of the payout can you recieve the money.
There is always confusion on this score but here is my understanding.
No. You need to hold the stock at least three day before the ex dividend date as that is the settlement period, even though you show the stock in your account and can sell it as soon as you buy it it still wasn't "yours" that is the settlement period.
If I'm wrong on this someone please correct me. JMHO

I believe that once the company declares that there is going to be a dividend paid... you have to own the stock by the record date. I cant be positive but you might be able to get in by the ex date. Be careful though because the price of the stock will go down minus the dividend. In which case you will pay capital gains if you sell. I could be wrong someone help me out on this one.

I bought 100 shares of MBVT on 12/8/2004 with the cash record of special devidend was $4.5 on that day 12/8/2004. One more question is for example if the cash record is yesterday, can I still receive dividend payment if I sell the stock today not waiting until to cash pay day? .
