I signed up for Etrade about a week ago and they've already screwed me on their $9.99 "Pro eTrade" deal. My first orders went through at $19.99 commissions and I paid them because I really wanted in the stock. Come to find out I have to execute at least 9 trades at the full $19.99 rate. So basically I want to bail on Etrade for their cheesy policy.

Choicetrade looks promising. Are there any monthly fees outside the $5 per trade? Are the extra packages (Select & DirectPro) worth the extra fees?

Any negatives that I should look out for?

CC,

I have been using ChoiceTrade and have never had a problem. Their site is www.choicetrade.com Any time I have had a question, I have had an immediate and fully explained response. I usually call. The owner is a guy named Neville...very nice guy.
Go to their site. There are some incidental charges depending upon the circumstances, but I have never been charged those. So far, it has just been $5 per trade.
You can trade all stocks, incl pinks. If you want to trade foreign (example, Canada's exchanges - not the ones traded on our exchanges) they will trade them but you will have to call...and I think the trade costs $30 (but not sure).

Previously, I had Scottrade and was not pleased with their service or their prices.

Good Luck

If you are new to penny stocks try to follow what Glassman and Dardadog are recommending.
No matter what anyone says though, do your own research and reach your own conclusions.

CC,

Re Futures, I do not know since I have neither tried nor asked. Call them and ask.
They seem to be a very nice group of people.
They will also be able to answer your other questions about them as well.

Don't remember if I told you, but you can trade up to 1 sh under 10 mil shs each trade. When you get into the higher numbers of shares just might be where the other charges come into play.

CC,

Here's an example of the service I get at Choicetrade. Had a Buy in at .041. Bid was .040 and Ask was .044. Last was .040.
Technically, my trade did not have to be consumated by the MM under those circumstances. In addition it was an "all or none" requirement which makes it worse.

I called Choicetrade and Neville answered the phone (which I might add is not unusual).
He's the owner of Choicetrade. I asked him if he could give the MM a nudge for me. Said he could not guarantee but would make a call. Within minutes, got my trade at .041.

This has always been my experience to date with Choicetrade.

Thanks for your help! I'm going to signup for a choice trade account today or tomorrow. The only thing that is a drag is that I have to print and fax them the application. How long did it take for choicetrade to get the money transfered and get the account active for trading?

Etrade's $20 commissions for the first 9 trades is pure crap. They also tack on a $3 'service fee' which means the commission is really $23 each way!! Even after the 9 trades I'll have to pay them Etrade $29.99 a month fee to get $9.99 trades.

I went long on one stock (ULBI) that I wanted to sell out my position with a small profit because my timing was a bit off. (should have waited for more strength) The stock would have been profitable to me at 13.25 but the commission overhead led me to raise my stop 25 cents (I only have 100 shares) and I missed getting filled by just 10 cents... It's not a big deal because I still feel strong about the stock longterm and it's way heavily discounted but it's irked me that Etrade's misleading commission structure has already cost me a profitable trade.

Thanks again for your advice!

CC,

I honestly don't remember how long it took to get going but it wasn't more than a week or two. Once you fax your application, as I recall your account is opened. It's the transfers that take the time. If you happen to have a few extra $$$$s, you could wire it and get started quite quickly...days.

You are welcome.

Hi Wallace,
I have accounts with mytradz and lowtrades and they are not very micro penny friendly. Mytradz limits you to 250,000 shares per trade and then when you sell it it costs $25 (.0001 fee) plus commmision $7.95, low trades is the same but you can buy 500,000 shares than an extra $50 plus commission at $5.00. They also both got rid of their stop orders for all stocks under $ 4.00 I think the amount is. How is choicetrade on micropennys where you might buy a million shares. Thanks Greenhorn P. S. if my luck doesn't change I might not have to worry about it. I have been winning lately, I haven't bought anything

Is there anything special required to trade penny stocks on choice trade? I've heard people talking about 'getting pinks'... What does that involve with choice trade and under what conditions would I need to get them?

I guess what I'm really asking is what are the general conditions (price, volume, etc.) that would require me to do something more complicated than a standard stock trade?

Thanks in advance!

greenhorn,

Read my post at 9:44 above. It should answer your question. Go to their site and check them out as well...my third post down.

CC,

Pinks, OTCBB and NASDAQ are among the riskiest stocks there are, with pinks being the worst. With Choicetrade, you can trade any of them...just place your order and providing you have the $$$s in your account.
Recommend you stay away from a margin account...just use a cash account.

As I suggested earlier, go to their site to answer your questions in your second paragraph. If not too many questions, you might even want to call them. I think they will be polite and respond in ways that will be of comfort to you.
