Find the lowest price on the Net

"I'm sure, definitely sure, we are going to change the eCommerce world!!" That's how Eliron Yaron of the Shelron Group feels about his new software, called Activshopper. He says it's the ultimate comparison shopping tool. It rides along as a toolbar as you shop:

"When our software detects that you're going to buy something, instantly we go and search all over the Internet to sample for a better price, and we definitely find it," says Yaron.

It returns a price, how much you save, and a big GO button to click on to take you to that Merchant's site. That click is how Yaron gets paid.

Activshopper will be free and strictly looks for the lowest price. It doesn't take into account a website's customer rating, shipping and handling. Yaron says a future version may also factor in shipping.

In several examples, Yaron showed me how the software would save me money. First we check out a specific laptop. And when we're ready to buy at one site, Activshopper searches and finds a better deal somewhere else. "In a second, it found the same product – 772-dollars cheaper."

A 999-dollar Sony Digital Camera on one site; Activshopper finds it for 167.97 less.

Activshopper returns the lowest price on an individual product from the websites in its database. Some websites may be higher or lower on specific items, or running a special while you're shopping.

Yaron says Activshopper will help you find the lowest price on computers, the lowest mortgage rates, cheapest airline tickets for the same time period, lowest credit card interest, even the best price on buying a domain name on the Internet, like ijhudson.com.

What Activshopper offers is simplicity. There are no charts, tables, no range of prices at other websites. While a "single" lowest price is important, it does keep you from seeing other prices that may be just a little higher, but at a website you really trust.

Another feature - if consumers opt in, Activshopper forms a network, so if it senses a large group of people wants to buy the same item, it can set up a group buy, probably getting an even lower price. At least, that's the promise.

ActivShopper is in demo mode right now, and certainly not ready for consumer use. As we went to press, we still weren't able to download a beta. That's probably a week or two away.
