This is a letter from Rxxxx, a medic in the Iowa Army National
>Guard, serving in Iraq:
>
>As I head off to Baghdad for the final weeks of my stay in Iraq, I wanted
>to say thanks to all of you who did not believe the media. They have done
a
>very poor job of covering everything that has happened. I am sorry that I

>have not been able to visit all of you during my two week leave back home.

>And just so you can rest at night knowing something is happening in Iraq
>that is noteworthy, I thought I would pass this on to you. This is the
>list of things that has happened in Iraq recently: (Please share it with
>your friends and compare it to the version that your paper is producing.)
>
>* Over 400,000 kids have up-to-date immunizations.
>* School attendance is up 80% from levels before the war.
>* Over 1,500 schools have been renovated and rid of the weapons stored

>* The port of Uhm Qasar was renovated so grain can be off-loaded from

war.
>* 100% of the hospitals are open and fully staffed, compared to 35% before
the war.
>* Elections are taking place in every major city, and city councils are in
place.
>* Sewer and water lines are installed in every major city.
>* Over 60,000 police are patrolling the streets.
>* Over 100,000 Iraqi civil defense police are securing the country.
>* Over 80,000 Iraqi soldiers are patrolling the streets side by side with
> US soldiers.
>* Over 400,000 people have telephones for the first time ever
>* Students are taught field sanitation and hand washing techniques to
>prevent the spread of germs.
>* An interim constitution has been signed.
>* Girls are allowed to attend school.
>* Textbooks that don't mention Saddam are in the schools for the first
time
>in 30 years.
>
>Don't believe for one second that these people do not want us there.
>I have met many, many people from Iraq that want us there, and in a
>bad way. They say they will never see the freedoms we talk about but they
>hope their children will. We are doing a good job in Iraq and I challenge

>anyone, anywhere to dispute me on these facts. So If you happen to run
>into John Kerry, be sure to give him my email address and send him to
>Denison, Iowa. This soldier will set him straight. If you are like me and
>very disgusted with how this period of rebuilding has been portrayed,
email
>this to a friend and let them know there are good things happening.

Bob, I have the honor of working with an officer who recently returned from duty in Iraq. He was discouraged with the media coverage concerning the war. I’ll never forget him telling me how one sided the coverage appeared to be. He was under the impression that his unit had made some good things happen for the people of Iraq.

Thanks so much, Bob, for posting this letter. I did a printout, and will mail it to a friend of mine who served in Iraq. It would be so nice if all of the people on this planet could read the truth, and know exactly what is happening over there.

I don't think anyone is arguing that we are not doing a great service to the Iraqi people.

The problem is for what reason and at what cost..

i also question whether it was a worthwhile investment.. regardless of your opinion , i don't think we have any choice but to finish the job...because if we don't, and don't do it right, we will be paying for a long time to come.....

Either way we will be paying.. so its important to get this done correctly. Thats the only way to make up for Bush's mistake.

From the content of the original post I have a feeling that we are succeeding and doing things right which is a Good Thing.

Everything seems to be going well now. Whatever, meantime Border Patrol are sitting in their SUVs and told not to stop anyone on the US mexican border. Must be cause it is an election year. Every year 13,000 muslims cross the US mexican border. One illegal kill a Retired Vietnam vet in my hometown this weekend. Hit and run drunk. Same thing happen to me. Cost my insurance company 20,000 Thanks president bush. Killing vets that took your place in Vietnam. companies can have free labor and fire those same vets.

I'm so sorry. I do understand. And it is frightening. I travel to Nogales once or twice a year for decorating supplies, or like the last time, for my dogs valley fever medicine.

It chills me to the bone when I cross the border at the entry. Forgive me if I offend anyone. But for the most part, when I look at many of the men just hanging out at the border crossing... I realize that I could not tell you if they were proud Americans or a Terrorist.

I am in the military and I find it extremely offensive when the far left tries to say that we have made a mistake. All of this is cause you do not like President Bush. Is it because of the political party or because Hollywood says it is the hip thing to do. I just remeber that most of these people who criticiize the war is the far left, who was riding around smoking pot trying to act cool in the 60's. The hippies were just the losers of that generation and it is evident that alot of the young people of today would associate with the unmoral acts of those in Hollywood and the far left. Remember it is the Earth Liberation Front (terrorists) that stems from these societies. I have faith that more and more Americans are getting tired of these critics, who only complain cause they know nothing other than trying to rebel. They cannot go with the flow and make a better society. I know some will post adverse comments about my letter here, but I don't care. It is a free country and I respect their right to free speech. I will fight to the death for them. I just wonder will those on the far left who criticize us so much, be willing to do the same for me !!!!
