Yep, and all the charges carry serious jail time. If you add up all four counts she can go away for 10 to 20 years. In the current atmosphere where they have to to give the appearnace of being tough on white collar crime and anything attached to stock fraud, it could be a hefty sentence. What I don't understand why she just didn't say her broker told her sell the crap, brokers tell clients that all the time, no crime in that. Makes no difference if he told her why she should sell, just that he did. She tried to cover something up she didn't have to. Then she was too proud and pigheaded to make a plea agreement. She should go to jail for being stupid.

I am for equal rights--if she did it she gets her due---but my understanding is that this whole case hung on the use of TWO different pens--I have 5 on my desk--red-green 2 blues 2 blacks--i wonder if this would have gone this far if she were a man?

It is a shame they selected her to make an example of. There are least three other REAL fraudulent cases most people can name off the top of their head, just by listening to network news since ENRON. It was her celebritiy and her nasty way with people that done her in. It makes no difference if you have a stem on your apple or not, it isn't male / female, it's about the appearance of the Feds doing there job. Meanwhile the real criminals go free.
PS And hotdamn all green in my portfolio today! Another week of that and I'll be even. LOL

yes she will make the best of it---but as a professional PG--I assume you know what i a mean when i say that the basic communication differences between men and women cause serious confusion in the workplace-
DIANA said it well- DO NOT CONFUSE MY KINDNESS FOR WEAKNESS
many time the assumption that a polite person is weak can be a FATAL error---
in men the MOST dangerous ones that i have known were soft-spoken-- but in a woman--it is a requirement to put your foot down hard to be taken seriously--rightPG?

People are people, male or female. People that are generous, good, and kind came in both flavors, as do nasty people. Why amke it a male / female issue, It's about right and wrong.

I like what i am hearing from the US attorney David Kelly--- I am not TRYING to make it a male/female issue--it-is BECAUSE there are VERY few women in Martha's LEVEL of the game------
I have a 15 yr old daughter that "has the right stuff"--how do i help her walk this line--I am asking for men's and womens opinions.

I find it interesting. Martha and her buddy in crime were convicted of 4 counts each. I hope both get whats coming to them for cheating the investors. If one gets 5 yrs then so should the other. If one gets probation so should the other. Both the same. Martha did not have a problem seeing her investors lose money. I hope both get a min of 5yrs. Be out in 2 and a half at most. Its time these rich cats pay the price as do the little people. I do not feel sorry for either one of them. They dang sure would not feel sorry for you.

Martha got what she deserved. Her little act of “I am Miss Perfect” and you should be like me is only a marketing tool to sell her products and make a lot of money on just her name and image. In reality she is known to be a ruthless B*T*H. She hobnobs with others of the same who laugh and joke about how much money they can accumulate at others expense. She was on the Board of the N.Y.S.E. If anyone should play by the rules they should, but she is MARTHA STEWART. Don’t screw with me. This is a victory for all of the little people who follow the rules. Can anyone tell me if she ever actually has done something constructive. Anyway I hope this is just the beginning of nailing all the crooks that made a lot of money by not playing on the same field as we have to?

In reality, Martha lost in a couple ways just on stocks (definat jail time also). She sold because of non FDA approval which was then approved as she was on trial. Stock she supposedly cheated on then skyrocketed. LOL if you put that in a movie no one would believe it.
Then of course she owns a ton of her own stock and she's not looking very trustworthy, her stock, which once traded well, drops and with the drop she's out around 35 mill (newsman said) not my math.
WATCH THE BOUNCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THAT STOCK DROPPED MIGHTY QUICK AND MAY NOT BE DONE. ONCE AT 40. NOW AT 10.
IF YOU GOT THE JAM WATCH IT. IT WILL BOUNCE HOW HIGH WE CAN ONLY MEASURE AFTER

The Judge on FOX said that Martha would have to serve at least 16 months of jail time for what she did. No way she can get around it. I sure hope he is right. I hope for at least 5 years. A friend of mine at work said that this is a Federal case and that if she goes for 5 years she will have to serve the whole 5. No parole in Fed cases. I do not know if this is correct or not.

The best she can expect is to serve 85% of her sentence. The bounce? Not sure if it's finished tumbling yet. People have the weekend to think things over. I want to see if the food channel keeps Martha's show on. This little indiscretion might scare off advertisers. Does KMart have some type of morals clause in their agreement with Martha? I'm not sure the other shoe dropped yet. If anything I would buy puts, but they will be at a premium Monday. For now I will just watch.
