that's slightly above normal for north shore on Oahu....
today report:
Aloha, this is Kekoa with the report for Tuesday morning
This Morning's Surf Report: Solid but inconsistent surf rolling into country shorelines today with nice conditions. Surf is in the head high to overhead high range with some inconsistent sets in the double overhead high range at select locations. Light tradewinds will provide typical side to offshore conditions for country shorelines today.
**The Volcom Pipeline Pro is ON today.** WEATHER:
Mostly sunny. Isolated showers in the morning. Highs 76 to 82. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
rogue waves do suck, but steady 20's are fun...

Isn't the cost of living in HI very high? Price wise.

if you are into eating at restaurants? yes.. housing is high too, but if you like spending time outdoors, cooking and eating fresh fruit, veggies and fish? it is actaully reasonabale... you can't do that here for less...
heck there's more "public recreational land" (read free touse) on Oahu than there is in the whole state of MS... it's almost all private here.
a big plus for me now would be the steady flow affluent customers, but alas, the wifes work has us stuck in the MS mud for now... all things do pass and so will this..
they do have a lab or two there that my wife could work in but the work is too mundane for her(so she says anyway)
besides? i am too old and beat to hell now to jump back in the big waves anyway...

It's funny when you look at some of those waves on film or pictures they look big, but when you look at them up close and personal (like in the water) they look hugh.
A 25 footer when waiting on a surfboard has got to make you think twice why you entered the water, especially if you went out on a nice fairly small day just to do a little surfing.
Can you imagine you are a non local figuring you'll go to Mavericks to surf some small waves get those bragging rights to tell all your friends, then a hugh set comes up... ouch
