I am sure Mossad would like to have that if they dont already. It is scary though to think what it could do if in the wrong hands, or....if it managed to make a runaway worm they couldnt control and it took on AI and began to work against anyone and anything.

cash, alot of the security updates you get from Microsoft? they are only patches to close "holes' microsoft intentionally built into the system for their own use. Once they get discovered by "illegitimates"? MSFT sends the patch they already had made.. not all but quite a few of them. If you really NEED it private? don't connect to the internet at all ever...

Well I guess it is a little too late for that now glass. It is going to get to the point where you wont be able to function easily...without the internet. online bill pay to go paperless, general info, emails, all sorts of things.

Seems like it's possible this thing was aimed directly. I'm not sure I see anything pointing towards Iran though. And simply because the target was quickly assumed to be Iran, I am going with.. it was aimed elsewhere.
Also seems it is directed at a Siemens control unit so letting it loose on the net is kind of pointless.

Reportedly, a state may have been involved in creating it and using it against Iran.
Kevin Hogan, the senior director of security response at Symantec, told Reuters on Friday that 60 percent of the computers worldwide infected by the so-called Stuxnet worm are in Iran, which indicates that the country’s industrial plants were the original target.
The director of the Information Technology Council of the Industries and Mines Ministry has announced that the IP addresses of 30,000 industrial computer systems infected by this malware have been detected, the Mehr New Agency reported on Saturday.
“An electronic war has been launched against Iran,” Mahmoud Liaii added.
“This computer worm is designed to transfer data about production lines from our industrial plants to (locations) outside of the country,” he said.
He also announced that a working group composed of representatives from the Communications and Information Technology Ministry, the Industries and Mines Ministry, and the Passive Defense Organization has been set up to find ways to combat the spyware.
Communications and Information Technology Minister Reza Taqipour stated that Iranian engineers possess the expertise to create the required anti-virus software to clean the malware-infected systems.

Wellll maybe it was Iran. Seems a rather witty way of figuring out if they are in fact working on nukes. It should be fairly easy to nullify though.. A couple changes to the language of the command files and poof it's inept.

Computer Worm Affects Computers at Iran's First Nuclear Power Station
TEHRAN, Iran -- A complex computer worm capable of seizing control of industrial plants has affected the personal computers of staff working at Iran's first nuclear power station weeks before the facility is to go online, the official news agency reported Sunday.
The project manager at the Bushehr nuclear plant, Mahmoud Jafari, said a team is trying to remove the malware from several affected computers, though it "has not caused any damage to major systems of the plant," the IRNA news agency reported.
It was the first sign that the malicious computer code, dubbed Stuxnet, which has spread to many industries in Iran, has also affected equipment linked to the country's nuclear program, which is at the core of the dispute between Tehran and Western powers like the United States.
Experts in Germany discovered the worm in July, and it has since shown up in a number of attacks -- primarily in Iran, Indonesia, India and the U.S.
The malware is capable of taking over systems that control the inner workings of industrial plants.
In a sign of the high-level concern in Iran, experts from the country's nuclear agency met last week to discuss ways of fighting the worm.
The infection of several computers belonging to workers at Bushehr will not affect plans to bring the plant online in October, Jafari was quoted as saying.
The Russian-built plant will be internationally supervised, but world powers are concerned that Iran wants to use other aspects of its civil nuclear power program as a cover for making weapons. Of highest concern to world powers is Iran's main uranium enrichment facility in the city of Natanz.
Iran, which denies having any nuclear weapons ambitions, says it only wants to enrich uranium to the lower levels needed for producing fuel for power plants. At higher levels of processing, the material can also be used in nuclear warheads.
The destructive Stuxnet worm has surprised experts because it is the first one specifically created to take over industrial control systems, rather than just steal or manipulate data.
The United States is also tracking the worm, and the Department of Homeland Security is building specialized teams that can respond quickly to cyber emergencies at industrial facilities across the country.
On Saturday, Iran's semi-official ISNA news agency reported that the malware had spread throughout Iran, but did not name specific sites affected.
