It isn't so much that liberals are ignorant. It's just that they know so many things that aren't so.

i worked a huge juried outdoor festival this weekend. i won my category which qualifies me to get to even more elite juried festivals. i really hate the outdoor festivals cuz there's so many environmental situations out of control, like dogs on leashes and winds and thunderstorms and even on the nice days too much sun.

i got beat out of best in show (which the cash prize is five time the cash prize for best in category) by an artist from NYC who did primitive nudes. I learned early on to not get too worried about being judged by artist that are not experts in 3D work cuz they are usually biased to paintings, and painting people get way more money for way less work than us 3D people do anyway. But i have to say that i just cannot comprehend the allure of primitive nudes. I don't do critiques of work at he festivals ever, you never know who is allied with who so you can only screw yourself, but i did discuss and try to analyse the art that won with my wife. Keep in mind that primitive does not mean "like cave paintings", i've seen all the cave painting (photos actually) that i can find and most of them are not primitive at all, many of them are very advanced, and even the 30,000 yr old stuff shows a grasp of presentation that only a few of us can ever hope to acheive. We both finally agreed that the primitive nudes, which wer primarily bold black ink on paper with maybe some of one other color for contrast reminded us of the kinds of drawing kindergarteners thru 3rd graders might do on a bathroom stall in school....

keep in mind that the judging is done by people who have already won many many awards for their own work and have taught a the college level...

i cannot question their knowledge of art or their life experience. i guess i have to question their taste [Big Grin]

anyway it's a lot of hard work to go present a nice booth a these outdoor festivals but it is fun.
